Who are you and what are you doing here?

Out & About

This morning I took my new Tamron 150-600mm lens out to the the most southwesterly point in the lower 48 states. I visited Border Field State Park, International Park (where there were great views of the border wall which was built here a decade ago), Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve, Tijuana River County Open Space, and Tijuana River Valley Regional Park. Lots of interesting sights, and some of the Border Patrol agents thought I was an interesting sight…………….

Over at the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve I saw a couple of wild dogs. All by themselves (it was 6:45 a.m.). They were quite afraid of me but with my lens I was able to follow them for quite a distance. They knew where they were going. Sadly, the bushes and grasses prevented me from getting any good pictures of those two.

Later on, over somewhere in International Park, I came across a feral cat. All alone out in the wilderness. Very pretty but very afraid of me. I used every mm of that 600mm to get two pictures, and as I got closer s/he quickly took off into the cover of the bushes and trees.

I think I caught her taking a cat nap in the first picture but the shutter noise woke her up. Look how big those eyes got in the second picture, like, “Who are you and what are you doing here?”
