An explosion of color in my cactus gardens

I live in my own little world

There currently is a flower explosion happening in my cactus gardens.

Here are some pictures of today’s color:

We don’t have that many nor that wonderful cacti, but some are starting to bloom in our wildflower/wilderness area. Pictures are being processed just now.

The only trimming I do is to remove the spent flowers.
I handle them using my old volleyball kneepads. The thorns poke into the soft side so I can handle them but don’t poke through the hard side.

My wise old grandmother had me create a rose garden for her in 1968. That was the first, last, and only time that I ever have had roses. They are lovely as long as they are in someone else’s gardens.

Noooooo! lol I love roses, possibly because my Dad grew tons of them. I remember he even grafted different kinds of roses onto the same bush. He did the same thing to fruit trees. I suspect he just like the challenge of the technique. 🙂

Such a beautiful garden you have created. I agree that the cactus plants themselves are very interesting, and you have a great collection of different shapes, sizes, thorn types, etc., and with all the many pups they seem to be very happy growers. But what an amazing variety of color in the flowers! While I love all the bright colored ones, I think the tan ones tucked safely in the nest of thorns is my favorite.
