Having a dandy good time

Picture of the Moment

When I moved to Houston after my time at Texas A&M University, I discovered wine tasting, wine & cheese parties, and Wine-of-the-Month clubs. It only took about a year to discover that I really was not a wine connoisseur.

With me, it’s white zinfandel, white zinfandel, and white zinfandel.

San Diego County has a few billion vineyards with wine tasting facilities. I have continued to resist trying wines again because I’m quite happy with my white zinfandel.

Recently, though, I was in Solana Beach in the Cedros Avenue Design District when I came across the Winery Queen. Looks like this:

The Winery Queen belongs to Carruth Cellars, An Urban Solana Beach Winery.  I did not go in since, as I said, I’m quite happy with my white zinfandel. I did like their Winery Queen, though. She looks like she’s have a dandy good time.

I’m with you on not being a wine connoisseur, even being a beer connoisseur. It becomes all too complicated after a while. I know what I like and I stick with it. Probably a lesson learned from having cats. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by for a visit. I’ve been meaning to visit, but when you have 40+ pages of followers, there doesn’t seem to be enough time. Using the Reader, I’ve given up on that with the constant WP tinkering.

I gave up on the Reader about five years ago. I have an Excel spreadsheet with links to all the people I follow, and I simply go through it one by one. Currently there are 2,115 blogs that I’m following….

I like the descriptions of the wines from the wine connoisseurs: “It has a strong first taste of bitterness but with a hint of oak. The aftertaste is quite pleasant, though, a mixture of cherries, strawberries, and chocolate.”

I can handle the bitterness, cherries, strawberries, and chocolate, but I have never eaten oak so I have no idea what a “hint of oak” might taste like………..

I’m with you. If I hear ‘a pretentious little wine with a nuance of chocolate mischief and a sunny south slope disposition’ I tend to make the SpagBol with it. Wines for me divide into two camps: drinking, and sipping. Just as dinner guests divide into two camps….
