The Top 3 on my list of favorite birds is (1) Flamingo, (2) Pelican, and (3) Hummingbird.

We have pelicans and hummingbirds here in San Diego.

Lots of them.

No wild flamingos though.

Fortunately, the Zoo, Safari Park, and SeaWorld have thriving colonies of Flamingos, and if one goes on a regular basis, one can watch the adults build nests, lay eggs, care for the eggs, care for the chicks…. the whole family thing from beginning to end.

Well, actually, I have never seen the end, but everything else is a lot of fun to watch.

Here are five Photographic Art stamps of flamingos, nests, egg, and a chick from a visit to the Zoo a couple of weeks ago:

FUN FACT
The world’s oldest flamingo,
a resident of the Adelaide Zoo in Australia,
died at the age of 83 in January 2014.

They look a bit different than the flamingos I saw recently. They were very noisy birds but did not get to spend enough time watching. I did not know they could live that long. Thank you for the information.
