We met our deadline of being out of the old home by midnight on June 4.
Unfortunately I made myself quite sick.
There was 8 years of dander, dust mites, and such in that place.
I have vowed never again to have carpeting unless I have enough money (or am willing to spend the money) to have someone else come in weekly and clean the stuff. Nasty, nasty, nasty. Give me tile or wood so I can just sweep.
Along with organizing the new home, coughing and hacking, and sleeping, I’m not back full-time at the computer.
Zoey the Cool Cat, on the other hand, is back full time at doing what she does best:

We were horrified when we pulled up carpeting many years ago to have hardwood installed. So much dirt and stuff under there. Now we have hardwood and a Dyson V6 cordless which is great for getting up the dirt and dog hairs. Pricey, but worth it.

A Dyson V6 sounds like a fast car……….LOL

We only have carpet in the bedrooms and I regret even that. However I do have a nice big, powerful Dyson [upright vacuum cleaner] so it’s not too bad. But seriously, if I had my time and money over again I’d have hardwood floors everywhere with just some nice rugs that can be rolled up and cleaned thoroughly. Zoe looks more than happy though. Congrats on surviving the move. 🙂

We’ll have some rugs in the new place, but carpet never again.

You are working that cat way too hard. She looks comatose. I took out every inch of carpet here last year and painted the sub-floors then only carpeted 2 bedrooms and the tiny den. The rest has laminate and now I wish I’d done the whole house. I wanted the carpet as sound absorption.

The old place had carpet in two bedrooms and tile everywhere else. Cleaning proved that two bedrooms with carpet was two bedrooms too many!

We got rid of carpet 15 years ago and have all tile and I would not go back to carpet. I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks. My wise old grandmother had hardwood floors, and now I think I understand why!

I got rid of our carpets for the same reason!

I think I now know why I was always hacking and coughing in my own home.

Yikes 😦
Hope you feel better soon. We also have hardwood flooring in our flat – for the same reasons 😉

Since my wise old grandmother had hardwood flooring in her home, I was always anti-hardwood flooring. I definitely now am pro-hardwood and pro-tile!

Next time I move I’m not lifting a finger other than to point to things for the movers. They can even pack the boxes! I’ll sit back, drink margaritas, and watch!

Some places shouldn’t have carpet – even if you pay someone to clean – it would have to be done every day! With this damp climate, and not to mention the pets – just horrible idea. We’ve jerked it out of 2 houses and need to gut it up and get the last 2 rooms of this house carpet free.
Glad you are all moved in. Whew (then there’s always the collapse after the rush)
Hope you feel better soon!
Zoey, as usual, looks charming and in charge of it all.
