snip-pet: a small piece of something
SNIPPET 1
An open letter to WordPress.
Dear WordPress:
Your new editor is really bad. Very bad. It is as slow as molasses. In fact, sometimes it’s so slow that I have to check my calendar to make sure it’s 2015 and not 1985. There are times when I’m typing something from a book only to look up at the screen and find that it is several sentences behind me. I haven’t been able to type faster than a computer since, well, 1985. The longer my post gets, the slower the editor gets. Is this your attempt to force us to keep our posts short so we don’t use too much of your server space?
And what just happened is really irritating. I’m at the bottom of the editing screen and what I’m typing here is not visible. It’s below the screen. There is always one line at the bottom of the screen that is not visible until one goes to the next line. What’s with that?
The new stats page is even worse than bad. First, it doesn’t give me cumulative totals for views and comments, making me add them up manually. That’s not a huge problem because I simply put past yearly totals in my Excel spreadsheet and then just update 2015. The real problem here, though, is that when I do that, the cumulative totals using the new stats page numbers don’t match the cumulative total shown in the old stats page. Both are substantially lower. Obviously I want the correct total, but how do I know which total is the correct one?
Next: I don’t get a complete list of tags and categories. The list of tags only goes through C, and the list of categories only goes through H.
Lastly, it doesn’t matter where I try to “add media,” 90% of the time it automatically gets inserted at the top of the editing screen, which means I have to cut and paste it where I want it. The editor should add media wherever my cursor is in the document….
Come on, WordPress. You can do better than this….

Here a baby, there a baby, everywhere a baby at the San Diego Zoo and the Safari Park. Here is the week-old hippopotamus with his mommy, the first time I have ever seen mommy out of the pool and on land.
SNIPPET #3
Zoey the Cool Cat thinks I have been neglecting her here in my blog. So following are three gratuitous pictures of the little princess taken last month. She’s obviously very much abused….
Zoey the Cool Cat has this interesting obsession about where she lays herself down. When she finds a spot that is acceptable, she continues to use that spot for about five days. Then she’ll find a new spot. She has about twenty acceptable spots after 7½ years living here, and she simply rotates between them. Right now her spot is my desk chair. Doesn’t matter where she is, if I get up, she’s in the chair within a minute.
SNIPPET #4
Speaking of Zoey the Cool Cat, one of my greatest problems in life is saying “Thank you” and “You’re welcome.” I guess it’s because I have always though that if you say them too much, they lose their meaning. In fact, I used to have a friend who said “Thank you” after almost every sentence I spoke. It really did get irritating, and when I left Texas, I didn’t bring his friendship with me. I have made no effort to reconnect with him on Facebook either.
One of my recent posts got a lot of “thank you” comments. I felt kind of silly responding to each comment with a simple “You’re welcome.” I asked Zoey the Cool Cat what to do and she had this brilliant idea of becoming my official “Thank you” and “You’re welcome” spokescat. Here’s an example:
Whenever a comment needs a simple “Thank you” or “You’re welcome,” look for Zoey the Cool Cat to make an appearance.
SNIPPET #5
Previously whenever I did a SNIPPETS post, I would have ten SNIPPETS. For today, I’m going to end at five. This editor is just too slow. My last sentence in SNIPPET 4 took over a minute for the editor to type. I can’t do this.
If WordPress can’t correct these problems soon, I’ll be looking for another blogging platform….

I don´t like the new editor either, which is why I´m still using the old one. That one hasn´t been removed, has it?. Haven´t been posting in a while…

Yes, the old one is no longer an option. I would always use it, too, but no choice now. I’m sure that within weeks we won’t have the option to visit the old stats page either.

I just posted and just both the old posting page and also the old stats page… I hope they don’t delete either of them…

The old editor isn’t available to me anymore, maybe because I’m a premium WordPress user? Maybe we premium users get the latest and the greatest before everyone else. Ack!

Poor you! I hope they fix it soon…

I hear and Feel Your Pain! I’m still in love with my self-hosted WordPress platforms, but the one here is just becoming a bear to manage – have lodged my complaints – have been vocal in forums and have posted questions – they would like a screen shot of every stinking thing I used to do, no problemo, but now can’t do without at least 3 clicks with multiple wait time beyond – Who knows what is really going on? LOL – and by the way, post a picture of Zoey, because I’m saying Thank You for not feeling like I’m the only one unhappy with the changes going on her in the community these past few months – 🙂

Agreed. The new editor has some issues. Primarily that I do not like it at all. It is slow, it is not set up to make any logical sense. I just don’t like it, or the stats. They need to go back to the old way. I think 🙂

I love it……… “The new editor has some issues. Primarily that I do not like it at all.”

There’s my laughter for the day.

I just love….the unhappiness engineers. You get something good that works well, is easy, versatile and the unhappiness engineers decide to make things complicated and unfriendly. I can think of a Zoey the Cool Cat thing she could send to them!!! And poor little Princess. Zoey, I am so sorry you are treated so badly. Maybe I should send SamCat the Ripper out your way to help you out…..

Those unhappiness engineers take their job way too seriously…………LOL

Yeppers. That they do. I made some comments about the way the new comments appear and the unhappiness engineer who created it got a little snippy and someone else took over for him. Gee, and to think we aren’t always amazed….

The new editor is ghastly. Fortunately I can still use the old one, but I know that eventually I will be forced into using the new one.

For the moment, In France I haven’t this problem. The new editor is working normally, I mean my videos to load it puts the necessary time, no more than 2 minutes.I wish you a good day

I’ve never used the new editor since so many people are complaining about it, but I guess I’ll be forced into it sooner or later. I don’t like change, especially when that change is a huge backwards move.
If I end this comment with “great post” will I get a Zoey picture? Great post!

Hi Russel,
I hate the new editor and I don’t like the new stats page. Fortunately, there’s a workaround for both. To get to the classical editor, open the dasboard, go to wpadmin, then to “posts” and then click on “add new”. To edit an existing post with the old editor, go to “all posts” and from the list select that one you want to edit. All that is quite a roundabout way and an absolute nuisance, but at least, for the time being, we can still use the classical editor.
There’s been quite a ruckus in the WP-forums [main tread – by now closed – here: http://tinyurl.com/qcx5jg8%5D about the d*** new editor. The long and the short of it: those “happiness engineers” absolutely refuse to at least put that button in again for the option to choose the classical editor. They promise, though, to indefinitely keep the classical editor available, albeit by way of the workarounds.Let’s hope that’s true. But I doubt it.
I don’t know yet what I’ll do should that happen. We’ll see.
Have a good one, in spite of WP,
Pit
P.S.: had tried to comment yesterday, using Firefox, and it didn’t work [see my e-mail to you]. Today, using Chrome, it works.

Thanks for that, Pit. It works.
I got your email yesterday and was going to copy it into a comment but you got here again before I had a chance to do that.

To all who are disappointed with the new editor, please join the discussion here [https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/disappointed-in-new-wordpress?replies=16] and let WP know.
I don’t have much hope WP will listen, but let’s try.

Thanks for that link. I get so frustrated with their forums, too. They seem so disorganized I find the search function there to be basically useless.
