Real estate challenge for all my Realtor and Stager friends

Picture of the Moment

Several weeks ago I set out on a 476-mile journey through Southern California. My specific purpose was to visit some friends here and there. Since those friends could not see fit to all live in the same city to make it easy on me, I tacked on a few sights to see between friends.

I visited the east and north shore of the Salton Sea, a huge recreational area in the ’50s and ’60s. Sadly, it’s not that any more. I was the only person I saw at the beaches and in the cities, and I use the term “cities” very loosely here.

All the friends I was going to visit are in real estate, and I’ve been in real estate for 48 years. Here are some of the real estate I found in a beach community named Bombay Beach:

 Bombay Beach, California

My real estate friends are great Realtors, but I think even they would have problems selling these properties.

Housing deprivation at its lowest. To revisit an area that brought you happiness; but no longer exist is difficult. But, each of the houses you photographed led me to conclude that there is a story to tell. Thank you for sharing these insightful photographs.

Yeah, but back then all Bugsy had to do was pay off everyone. Here in modern California, we also have to pay off everyone but not to get what we want!……..LOL…….. There are so many third parties involved with licensing, regulations, etc., that it obviously is not to anyone’s benefit to take on the task.

California occasionally makes an effort to alleviate the smell and the unsightliness. The latest proposal from a couple of years ago came in at something like $3.8 billion. Even the State doesn’t have that kind of money!
