Meet Mr. Cowboy from North Shore, California

Picture of the Moment

Along with seeing Southern California’s Abominable Snowman recently, I discovered a larger than life figure that I did not know about: Mr. Cowboy (I named him). Looks like this:

Norrth Shore Cowboy

In the interest of full disclosure, Mr. Cowboy was in front of a dilapidated country store and next to a huge dumpster. Wasn’t a pretty picture. The whole north and east side of the Salton Sea was really depressing because of all the abandoned real estate and such.

I removed Mr. Cowboy from the original picture, placed him in a picture with a tall cactus to give him some height perspective, and then put some rocks and plants around his feet to mask the concrete and trash originally there.

Thus, that Photographic Art creation is actually a merging of three pictures. Ya just can’t trust me….

Amazing photoshop skills! I haven’t yet visited the picturesque Salton Sea. Your words paint enough of a picture.
I recognize the tall gentleman. I first met him using the name “babe” as in “Babe’s Muffler Shop”. I saw him (or his cousins) in Northern California along the 101 freeway an El Camino Real. When that outfit went out of business, various artrepreneurs snapped up these gentle giants. I’ve seen them here and there holding this or that.
It’s nice see this one survived and seems to be enjoying his retirement.

Very interesting. Thanks for adding to our knowledge about him. That could explain why I didn’t know about him because he might be a newer addition to the North Shore, thereby not being in any of my older books and magazines.

I have a footnote for you. After I wrote my post I did a little searching. It looks like Babe’s Muffler is still in business. Also, I came across a site which seems to feature quite a few of these tall silent gents. I wouldn’t be surprised if usagiants.com wouldn’t include your Mr. Cowboy in his glamorous Salton Sea setting.

We have some strange tall things over here, everything from prawns (shrimp) to bananas. One city, Rockhampton has huge bulls along the main street, yes it’s a cattle town. they used to have a giant Aborigine outside of town advertising a caravan park. They had a sign some way away saying, only 20miles from the Big Abo. Ah, the culture of it all.

That doesn’t surprise me. I’m fighting malware again. I guess when you spend as much time on the Internet each day as I do, fighting malware is going to be a regular occurrence. Doesn’t seem that Norton, McAfee, or Malwarebytes can keep up with to bad people. After I leave this comment, I’m forwarding the email that has caused this latest situation to Malwarebytes, Norton, and McAfee since none of the three seem to be able to find this on my computer.
