Russel, I am going to be brave to step forth and say what I think. You ready? I think simple works best, and that is what my tastes lean towards. I think these photos are too busy for my taste, but that is me. My favorite is number 8 because I like the colors and how everything blends together well. Please don’t take this the wrong way. I LOVE flowers as is very evident over at Petals, and I think flowers work best when they blend together simply, or they stand alone in their beauty. But again, that is me. I also am very aware of how the background blends in with what I am taking a photo of giving the image a smooth look. My technique is vastly different then Julian’s. More then likely it is our ethnic background, for I believe he to be Spanish who tend to like a lot of color and variety. Again, this is my personal opinion only and what appeals to me. Julian, I do not like to criticize other’s work, that is not my way, yet I am truthful. I hope I did not hurt your feelings. Or Russel’s. Or Zoey’s for that matter. I hope I helped. Love, Amy

Thanks for the comment, Amy. Don’t worry. You’re not hurting anyone’s feelings. We’re creating lots of Photographic Art for lots of people.

I know which one was Julian’s favorite, but my favorite is different.

I learned many decades ago that people have differing tastes. In one of my posts this past month a couple of people said that they liked XX the best. I thought XX was the worst thing I’ve ever created but I put it up because it was so different from anything that I had tried before. I still haven’t done that style again, but it reminds me that there is room for everything.

Of course, there were not simple pictures to begin with, and I realize that some people like a lot of action while others don’t. Here at Photographic Art by Russel Ray Photos, we have it all!

Whew! I am SO glad I didn’t hurt anyone’s feelings. You remind me of me. What I believe will be liked, is not, and what I think is not that great, others like. So, to each his own. And like you said, there is lots of room to experiment and try out. I’m constantly thinking of ways of creating a little differently. Again, thank you for not being upset with me. (((HUGS))) Amy

Julian’s like my four chess students that I will be trying to teach in just 45 minutes in that they are so good it’s difficult to come up with something to teach them. They pick stuff up on their own and are far ahead of my teaching schedule…………..LOL

You’re a good teacher, Russel. It’s clear that Julian’s having a good time using the tools you’re giving him in creative ways. You two are a nice partnership. I like #6 best. I like the simplicity of the single bloom with the surprise of the bee! xoxoM
