That picture was in my “see what you can do with this in Photoshop some time in the future” folder. It’s a folder with so-called throwaway pictures. For comparison purposes, following is the original. Just too good to throw away without trying to salvage it.

I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to salvage that picture, but I think I did. Took all of five minutes in Photoshop CC using masks and layers. Pretty neat.

I thought so, too. Yet Inside the Mind of Isadora said in her comment that she likes it both ways. I can’t imagine anyone liking a washed out, overexposed photo, but as I was thinking about that, I realized that her monitor might be set darker than most people’s monitors.

I really like what you’ve done with it. I think that the washed out one would lend itself to being washed further and being a really cool background for writing (yes, some of us do still use pens to communicate). But maybe that’s an insult to your art. If so, I apologize.

I agree with you! Even great pictures can be washed out, or lightened, to create backgrounds for paper. In fact, I have just such an idea in mind for products over at Zazzle. I’m making a bigger effort to catalog my pictures so I know exactly what I have to work with.
