Today’s walk at Chollas Lake Park

Out & About

Today I took some bread and the other half and went for a walk at Chollas Lake Park, an extremely nice park that I discovered last November 11. Some pictures of the park wildlife for your enjoyment.

This goose had wings that look like they were broken, facing outward:

Some of the friendlier geese were nibbling at my hand even though I had given all my bread to the squirrels.

This little Muscovy Duck was chasing all the little children. I’m not sure who was having more fun, the duck or the children.

There was a guy and gal throwing bread in the air and watching the gulls swoop in to catch it. I got a great video which I’ll post tomorrow with my South Bay Power Plant implosion video.

I saw more American Coots per square inch of water than I’d ever seen before. Reminded me of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds. There are two mallards in the picture, too, a male and a female. Can you find them?

Remember those squirrels I mentioned? Friendliest and cutest little fellas in all the world.

I found one goose that had clawed feet, something I’ve never seen before. After finding this bird, suddenly I was looking at the feet of all the geese and ducks. (Hmmm. Foot fetish?) This was the only bird with clawed, webbed feet.

The Queen of the House was not impressed.

Russel, the goose that appears to have broken wings has a condition called Angle Wings. It happens when the geese are little and take in to much protein. The wings never get better, they can’t fly with wings like that. Someone rescued a baby goose along side the road that was abandoned and I took it and put it in my bird pen. His wings were just like that so I researched it. He lived 5 years. He loved hanging out with my ducks and chickens. He also had a overbite bill so that is probably why momma left him. Great photos!

Great gobs of goose grease; Hope a somebody can catch and take the goose to a vet that has the wing problem. Maybe you should see about contacting a bird rehabber. These are licensed people by the state to rehab wildlife and some of them take in domesti

Quite something those geese! That Muscovy Duck looks like a mini Turkey!! You had plenty of variety for photographic material though 🙂 The squirrels are adorable…I’m amazed that it was accepting food from a human hand! How lovely, and those photos are soooo cute…I love little squirrels they’re such cool little guys!

The birds and squirrels at Chollas Lake Park are really going to be in trouble if humans disappear tomorrow. They won’t know what to do when the food supply suddenly disappears with the humans.

The one with the broken is nicely pictured, and is so gorgeous. But I’m very inclined to images of squirrels. So cool to take pictures of them as they are always photographic.

If I wasn’t so far behind in visiting other people, I would have stayed longer and read some more. I love your stuff. However, I am biased because I simply like poetry and those who can compose it.
