Surfing or swimming?

Art is not what you see but what you make others see

How I Did It

Watching the Olympics gives me lots of time to sit in front of the computer and have fun cataloging pictures modifying pictures altering pictures creating pictures. Following is one that I created today. I titled it “Surfing or Swimming.”

Surfing or swimming?

Poor little seagull doesn’t know whether to go surfing or swimming, especially since flying is not an option…….lol

That is a created picture using three pictures and doing a little cloning in Photoshop CS6. Here are the three pictures:

Now you’ll never again know whether the pictures in my blog are created pictures or pictures as seen through the lens of my Canon 550D. However, that doesn’t bother me because, as Edgar Degas (178 years old this month) said: “Art is not what you see but what you make others see.”

I thought you drew them all by hand.

there’s a dialogue between artist and viewer through their pictures, of what the artist intends and what the viewer interprets. For me, some of the best art is when the conversation goes on and on.

To clone or not to clone,, that is the question!?
Well I wouldn’t have known if you hadn’t have said Russel, and I happen to love watching Seagulls whether they are on their own-some or in pairs..
Ive taken a few photos of my own this morning, but they are not cloned… Just simple photo’s of my Veggie Allotment Garden,
I can see I will enjoy your picture treats, and we are never too old to learn new tricks as they say.. although I just point and click, and let the camera do the rest.. a little like my PC skills, I taught myself to use a computer and clicked away my mistakes!!…
Blessings sent over from a Dreamwalker’s World this Sunday, and I too have been watching the Olympics and Congrats USA on your Medals so far.. 🙂
The archery was a very close call.. as USA got Silver.. Loved watching that, being as I live in Robin-Hood country.. 🙂

Oh, what a nut… You said that, but I was more interested in the photo than understanding which three you chose and used to make one, as well as Degas comment, which I’m still thinking about.
Oh, by the way, Hi Russel. 🙂
