Extended hours at the San Diego Zoo begin June 22

I always look forward to extended hours at the San Diego Zoo, “extended” meaning that they stay open until 9:00 p.m. This year’s extended hours begin June 22 and run through September 3.

Along with all the great wildlife to see, there are many unusual activities going on that you won’t find at other times of the year. Last year I watched Splash! Animals, a speed painting live art experience dedicated to conservation of endangered animals.

Watch as Splash! Animals paints an endangered giant panda:

Probably won’t be exhibited in The Louvre anytime soon but a lot of fun to watch because she did that in about 15 minutes. I think the children watching had more fun seeing her get all that paint on herself, maybe more on her than the canvas!

I recently saw a “splash artist” on America’s Got Talent” and enjoyed it very much. I’m sure the children had fun seeing this as well. Thanks for sharing. Your sequence of photos well represented the process.

You can just delete this but what do you mean you couldn’t see my posts on the lagos site? Is there a problem somewhere cause I want to fix it.

We can only see nine posts, so we were wondering how you got 1,216 followers. After doing some additional research on how WordPress totals followers, we figured that most of them are your Twitter followers. That would make sense, of course.

Oh, I do only have 9 posts. Unfortunately I only have 27 twitter followers but I do try and market my blog everywhere and leave comments and stuff and I guess they just like it so much they follow!

That’s all well and good if it keeps you out of trouble and makes you happy. But with only 9 posts, 2 of which are simply touting how many followers you have, just exactly what are you marketing? I followed you because I thought it would be interesting to see and read about Lagos, to “travel Lagos.”

Im sorry if I sound bussinesy. I grew up in a bussinesy family and thats how you get people to read your blog, to expand your reach is to market your blog by making it look amazing, great product (great fun posts) and connecting with people. Lagos is my world, sometimes quirky but always fun. I’m sorry if I sound defensive but I really worked hard for this blog updating it 24 hours a day so I hope you don’t judge me for doing well.

There is no need to apologize for anything. I’ve been in marketing for 35 years so I understand it. What I don’t understand is what you are marketing.

You say you worked hard for your blog, updating it 24 hours a day, but there are only 9 posts showing. So what are you updating?

Does your blog “look amazing”? No, it doesn’t. Is it “great fun”? No, it’s not.

There are only 9 posts, 2 of which are simply touting how many followers you have.

Again, though, if it keeps you out of trouble and makes you happy, I’m all for it.

My marketing background, though, likes to explore what other people and companies do. That’s all I was doing.

For me my blog is freakin amazing like powdered sugar for breakfast amazing! No, that was not at all you were doing, you were absolutely hating on me having more followers and page views than you and you probably just realized that my blog is way better than yours. I don’t usually like aggravation but since you started the issue I’d be happy to finish it for you.

Hey, Lagos. Maybe we’re not talking about the same blog. Over at http://travelagos.wordpress.com/, you only have nine posts, two of which are simply touting how many followers you have. Where is the “freakin’ amazing”? Do you have another blog somewhere? I’d like to get to know you, to interact with you, but it’s hard to do when you only have nine posts.

Point me to the “freakin amazing” blog because I am not finding it.

I’m not seeing an “issue,” just inquiring where the “freakin amazing” blog is. Nine posts, two of which can be dismissed because they are just bravado posts, doesn’t qualify as “freakin amazing.”

Yeah like how you’re touting people to click the cute cat even though your blog looks like what comes out of it. My freakin nine posts even if written on a tissue paper will trump your losery blog any day of the week. Check the numbers dude, your blog says it all. Bring it on Russel Ray.

Getting a little upset when the truth comes out, eh Lagos. Anyone can run around and follow people knowing that 80% of them will reciprocate. If it’s a game and keeps you out of trouble and makes you happy, keep playing. Doesn’t bother me at all.

You’re saying that you do only have the one blog with the nine posts written over the course of three months. All I wanted to know.

Best wishes for health, happiness, peace, and prosperity.

No I was just trying to defend my blog because you were judging me for being slow with my posts. Its actually not a game for me its all about being able to connect with people around the world. To be honest you were insulting me and my blog and I wont take that. I actually don’t follow that much people, just my friends and the ones I really like. I do admit to having 9 posts, 18,562 hits and 1,241 followers in a month and a half. I have my followers, friends, and my family to thank for that for supporting me. And you! Didn’t you follow me! Thank you for that! Piece, prosperity and love for all mankind!

If the truth was insulting, I can’t do much about that.

I like to connect with people around the world, too, especially since I don’t have family to support me. In connecting with you, though, there’s little to connect with since you don’t blog and I’m not on Twitter.

I really was hoping that you had another blog with lots of fun and interesting Lagos stuff.

See, you’re doing it again. I obviously have a blog and I have connected with people around the world like Japan, Philippines and UK and their pretty nice people. You should take the time to read my stuff to fully understand me as a person. The world is full of different people, faster, slower, taller, smaller. We are not all similar so don’t expect our blogs to be the same. Some people might have special needs and some can right a full 3 paragraph essay in one minute. If you’re going to be that close minded, you should be really careful because we live in a liberal world. My blog is not about Lagos Nigeria if that’s what you’re thinking.

I’ve read your blog. Twice! Once on May 18, and again recently. There’s not much to read. Just nine posts, and two are simply posts that can be dismissed because they are just trumpeting how many followers you have. Big deal. Show us who you area. Blog. I like to read, like, and comment, but in your case, there’s little to read, like, or comment on.

That’s why I inquired because it’s blogging. I and several of my followers were wondering how you got so many followers without blogging. Now I know. You simply go around to however many blogs you visit each day and follow them, knowing that the will reciprocate. If that makes you feel good, then by all means, do it. Doesn’t bother me. Just curious.

Hi Lagos, I read the exchange you are having with Russel and I looked at your blog. Unfortunately, I have to agree with everything Russel is saying here. I started my blog in Jan. 2012 and created over 55 posts, many of them great, substantial, unique and beautiful. I have over 6,600 Twitter followers and close to 200 blog followers. My blog is not only informative, but also beautiful, with lots of gorgeous pics, history, etc. I also got almost 20,000 viewings in 6 months. However, since I don’t have time to randomly go around clicking on likes for people I never met and because I don’t have a family to do this for me, I get 8-12 likes per post. And these are all hard earned likes.

I am inviting you to visit my blog: http://ladaray.wordpress.com/ to see for yourself.

So, my friend, I am afraid, the verdict is that you are using some kind of trick(s). This is not real, and that’s sad. Very sad.

The question is, what’s the point in putting out great info? Let’s all create this illusion of being popular, instead of actually doing something worthwhile that justifies these likes.

Yes, people are different, but they are not stupid. ‘Nough said. I’ll end with the same as Russel. If it makes you happy… But it makes me sad.

I heard most of the animals hide in their shelter during the summer seasons because of the heat… is that true? I wouldn’t mind taking advantage of the extended hours… I went in November and I felt like I got kicked out at one point 🙂

No. The animals are very well cared for. They do have “their hours,” though. The best time to see the big cats is in the morning between 9:00 and about 10:30. That’s when they get their big bones to chew on. After that it’s siesta time for the rest of the day.

Some animals are best seen as the sun is setting, which makes extended hours great for that.

In November they close at 5:00, so you probably did get kicked out if you tried to stay later, or linger for just a few extra minutes. When it’s closing time, it’s closing time.

It is, isn’t it. At least now we know what he’s doing, just following everyone he can. He’s found that 80% of the people will follow him if he follows them. Well, der. It’s just a big game to him, and again I have no problem with people who play games because it probably keeps them from murdering, stealing, etc.

I don’t think so. I don’t think he spends much time at anyone’s blog other than to follow them and perhaps like or comment at the same time. I doubt that, other than my blog today, he’s ever visited the same blog twice.

Just to defend myself I do not follow people for them to follow me back if I can prove it to you I will. I have less than 50 people I’m following and most are my friends and family. I hope you don’t judge me over this debate because that is not me. I’m fun and chill, usually. Visit my blog and you’ll see my true side. Russel good luck to you and I don’t follow people for them to follow me so please don’t say that. Well it is your call. Good luck and Peace to the whole world. Seriously!

And you will I have a ton of posts in the process but I have deficiencies where its hard for me to post something that is not perfect. Since I’m not that much of a good writer or do I photograph very well there’s a lot of editing, replacing its just a long process for me but when I put something out there its something that I’ve researched, confirmed and its really me speaking and I really want the audience to be happy to see great photos to feel the images not just see a photocopied article with different words. For me if its not 100% it’s not worth your time. Thank you for apologizing even though you didn’t really do anything. Sorry for this whole mix up. Good luck on your blog as well and I don’t follow for people to follow back I promise.
