Boys don’t cry!
A couple of days ago I was exploring North Park and found a two-story mural at the intersection of Ray Street (not named after me!) and University Avenue.
As I was taking pictures of it, a dad and his little boy, probably about four or five, came around the corner.
The little boy saw the mural, pointed, and started crying.
Daddy responded with a slap on the head and an angry “Quit crying. Boys don’t cry.”
I beg to differ — crying is a legitimate human reaction of both boys and girls — but I’m not going to get involved in another family’s ideas of how to raise their children, unless I see flat-out child abuse.
