And the birthday is only half over!

So it’s been a great birthday so far. First the roofing company showed up at 7:00 (yes, A.M.) to replace the roof.
Zoey the Cool Cat is not too pleased with all the people walking on the roof, pounding, debris raining down from above scaring her mourning doves away……
Then Jim and I left the little queen all alone while we went out to Cleveland National Forest to see the snow.
As soon as we get back, we have a 5.2 earthquake. Nothing significant as far as we Californians are concerned….
There wasn’t as much snow in the mountains as I was led to believe but I got a few good pictures of which this one is my favorite:
It looks so serene, quite, peaceful, restful…. I’ll leave it for you to come up with some more synonyms. It was cold, however. How people actually live in areas where there is snow on the ground for half the year is beyond my comprehension.
I decided to take the picture to Photoshop and create some different pictures with different frames:

Quite an eventful day so far! Enjoy the remainder of your birthday.
Happy Birthday! Photo shopped photos look great! I don’t know how I live have the year with snow on the ground either, I hate the cold!
Well, Happy Birthday, except for silly people arriving way to early in the morning. I like the first pic best and, to me, that looks like a lot of snow. Every 20 years or so, we may get a fluttering of the stuff that melts before it hits the ground and everyone goes completely nuts, behaving like kids again.
Happy Happy Birthday! Woo Hoo! I love March Birthday people! No wonder I’ve always liked your blog! I hope the rest of your day is magnificent ~ and I hope you continue to celebrate until the 18th when my birthday bash begins because I celebrate for a week at the very least! So you can have this week to enjoy!
hee hee
What? Happy Birthday! How wonderful!
Happy Birthday.
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday Russel. Can of course understand why Zoey thought you’d made a big goof but we’re sure you made up for it when you got home.
So much more of your birthday to enjoy with an early start! Have a good one.
- Happy Birthday!
- Seriously? At 7am!
Have a nice birthday Russel! Bowie says “Meow!”
So someone ordered that little rolling earthquake for YOUR birthday!!! Oh, now I get it. Hey, great photos but keep that snow up there, OK? I was born & raised in Chicago and shoveled enough of it to last a lifetime. I got out of that nasty weather town when I was 18 and moved to sunny, warm San Diego. HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY – hope Zoey gives you a big wet kiss:)
Happy Birthday Russel! Hope the rest of the day was as great
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!!!
Happy Birthday! I love what you did to the pictures, especially the first one, which looks a bit pointillistic to me. While the early wake-up is not what I would have picked, at least your roof is getting done. We booked a re-roof back in October, and between storms and an early cold snap, we’ve had to wait until April. Every time there’s snow or rain, we get the buckets ready, just in case…
So what else have you got planned or unplanned for your birthday? One to remember anyway.
Happy Birthday! i love what you did with the pictures, the last one is my favorite!
Happy birthday Russel! Another Pices! Mine is next week on Tuesday! I love the photoshop photos! Lovely! Hugs my dear – B
Happy Birthday! Hope the rest of your day has gone well xxx’s
Well, Happy Day to you! There sure seem to be a lot of birthdays going on these days! Enjoy! and stay warm!
Happy Birthday! It’s pretty sad when you aren’t fazed by a 5.2 earthquake.
They downgraded it to 4.7………….lol
Hope it was a great day! Happy Birthday 2U! Those photoshopped pic’s are really good. Earthquakes sound frightening to us prairie people…yikes
One gets used to earthquakes. Now if the “big one” ever hits, I’m sure I won’t be used to that!………lol
oh geez, hope not! We’re in Cali again in May….I always think about that possibility but it’s just too beautiful to stay away.
Happy birthday to a fellow Pisces!
And I had a fish as part of my meal last night!…….lol
Happy Birthday!
I hope you had a happy birthday and that the year ahead is full of joy
Thank you!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Russel. At least you were up early
Have a wonderful day!
Happy Birthday.
snow is a state of mind and Happy Birthday
Hope you had a wonderful birthday, Russel. Thanks for giving US a present – great shot and interesting contrasts. Skritch Miss Zoey behind the ears for me, please.
Happy B-Day! Mine is on the Ides, so we’re almost birthday buddies! I do live where there’s snow in the ground most of the time, but I’m an ice princess, so I kinda dig it. Well, actually my boyfriend digs it. I just stay inside and watch.
Reblogged this on karenlawrencephotography.
I really liked the last image for some reason… I usually don’t like those but this one is really good
BBbrrr …. I agree. The photo looks great with all the different effects. Clever idea to do with a pix. OOopppsss … Belated Happy Birthday … and … many more.
Happy Birthday and many more!!!
I liked the last one that you photoshopped, made a lovely “painting”. When I lived in Maine for a year I found that folks “embraced” the winter. Cross country skiing, ice skating and ice fishing, hiking (don’t forget your crampons). I’m sold on winter hiking as a result – no bugs, no crowds, no sweating, and the views are amazing because they are not obscured by leafed in trees. Those of us in the northeast say the same thing about you – how can you live with the constant threat of earthquakes, wildfires, and mudslides!
The earthquakes, wildfires, and mudslides are only a threat that rarely happen. Snow up your way, on the other hand, well, it always happens!……lol
True enough, all the more reason to embrace it!
Happy birthday to you! Beautiful photos of the snow:)
Russel, Happy Birthday to You!
Belated Happy Birthday Russel
WOOHOO Another March baby! HAHA! Looks like a really fun birthday
March babies rule!
Got that right
Mine was the 16th! I drank way too many margaritas … HAHA!
