Music on Mondays — Signs, signs, everywhere a sign
![]()
Today’s offering from the music chronicles of Russel Ray for Music on Mondays is one of my favorite songs from 1971: “Signs” by the Five Man Electrical Band. Oh how my wise old grandmother hated this head-banging music (which seems so tame by today’s standards). At the time I was desperately trying everything I could get away with to be a “long-haired freaky” person.
Generally I don’t like cover versions of songs, but in this case, I think Tesla did a great cover version of “Signs” on their “Five Man Accoustical Jam” album from 1990.
Start the music and then scroll to below the two videos for some signs to go with the music.

Great! and thanks for sharing the song “signs” – I like it ;o)
Reblogged this on Teacher as Transformer and commented:
Signs by Five Man Electrical Band is a song from my era and it was one that has always stuck with me. The message is one about rhetoric of the message as opposed to living the message. The song might be more appropriate today than ever in the material and superficial world we are surrounded by. Another reason I like the song is this was a Canadian band.
You found some interesting signs!!!
Those are great. I’d like to know how they determined that 299 people maximum can dance. I guess 300 and the whole place explodes.

my favorite is happiness brought on, by guests leaving…lol
great !
And I really love the “old” rockers and their music, so much more than the music I hear now. And I like both versions of Signs.
I like “our” headbanging music and I still have long hair… lol
Thank you for the great musical walk down Memory Lane, Russel!
