World’s Greatest Hobby On Tour comes to Del Mar!

I try to make it to at least one model train show each year, and today I made it to the World’s Greatest Hobby On Tour show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
The show didn’t open until 10:00 a.m. I got there at 9:15 a.m. Fortunately, Amtrak runs right behind the Fairgrounds so I went to the back and got a picture of Amtrak zooming by:

I’m still practicing at getting the type of pictures of the model trains that I want. I got closer today. This one is my favorite:

The Amtrak train on the left track was stationery. The train on the right track was moving somewhat slowly while the train on the middle track was zooming by. I think the picture captures the motion perfectly. Now if I can just have the whole show to myself so there are no people or people parts in my pictures!

Thank you for sharing blog I love tranes
Too funny! I was at a Greenberg’s Train and Toy show today. Because of the snow today, very few of the model railroad layouts or exhibitors showed up, but it was still fun.
Hi Russel,
I would have loved to be there. And when In Hamburg the next time, I’ll be planning to see the “Miniatur Wunderland” [http://www.miniatur-wunderland.com/]. You might want to check out (their) videos.
Take care, and have a good one,
Pit
Love the motion capture
Looks fantastic. What an amazing show. I’d love to attend one.
My hubby would love to visit this – though he is more interested in steam trains and is a model engineer building seven and a quarter guage engines!
I think we all love steam trains. Today’s model steam trains even release steam as they roam the tracks.
They almost look like toy trains.
Great pictures – like the relative motion….
love the picture – looks pretty real!
