If you are coming to San Diego for a romantic vacation, might I suggest booking the Marriott Coronado Island Resort?

Along with the quaint cottages, every room has a view of water, and most rooms have a view of the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge and downtown San Diego across the bay. A late afternoon or early evening walk along the beach with a view of downtown San Diego is just, well, romantic!

Also, if anyone asks you where you can see flamingos, there are actually four places in San Diego. Most people think there are just three—the San Diego Zoo, Safari Park, and SeaWorld—but you can see more flamingos, as well as ducks, gulls, egrets, and herons, in the lagoon at the Marriott Coronado Island Resort.

In the Marriott courtyard, there is a small aviary with lots of cute little birds. In this first picture, I’m presuming daddy is on lookout duty while mommy is sitting inside taking care of the little ones.

The grounds are beautifully landscaped with ponds, streams, waterfalls, and plants:

Hi Russell,
Thanks for the tip. I’ll certainly bear it in mind, should Mary and I ever have the chance to come down to San Diego.
Best regards from southern Texas,
Pit
Yes, I see the mallards!
Uh-oh, is it Zoey recycle day?
She likes to help out around the house, especially when I start bagging stuff to recycle……..lol
RR, I think I could stay there forever
beautiful!!
Exquisite
It is one my list! Thanks for the review!
I visited Coronado when I was a little kid in the 50′s. If I remember correctly, at that time there was some kind of old, historic, hotel. This brings back memories.
That was probably the Hotel del Coronado. It is the most expensive property in the nation, most recently selling for something like $384 million back in 2005 or so. Currently it’s valued at $519 million according to reports. I haven’t done a post on the hotel yet, but there are some pictures of it here: http://russelrayphotos2.com/?s=hotel+del+coronado
What beautiful photo’s love the ducks and flamingo’s
You should send this to the Marriott. It would serve nicely as an endorsement. I don’t think I’ll ever have enough money to stay someplace like this, so it sure is a treat to get a peek inside! Thanks for the terrific photos!
That is a great part of town.
Your photos and descriptions make me want to jump in the car and spend this weekend in a romantic setting with the ducks and flamingos!
When you get there, remember to send me a postcard!……..lol
These pictures make me long for spring and summer!
