Symmetry

The cat show on Sunday was at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Usually when I go to the Fairgrounds there are another 50,000 or so people there, making pictures of the Fairgrounds itself somewhat difficult, unless you enjoy pictures of crowd mobs. However, Sunday was a dreary day, dull gray clouds with intermittent rain, resulting in smaller crowds at the cat show and the home show in one of the other pavillions. That allowed me to take time to get some pictures that I’ve always wanted to get, such as these two which I combined into one and titled Symmetry:

I do like pictures of people, alone, in groupings, and in crowd mobs. Though I don’t actually like to be in the crowd mob myself, I do like to be just outside and observe.——Symmetry in all its forms is infinitely fascinating……Are those copper patina looking things light fixtures, wall decorations, faces, stone, painted wood, weathered metal?——The wooden (appearing) wall behind the arches is interesting, too.——50,000 people at a cat show. How many cats? Do you take your cat?—–The logistics boggle me.——I really like the little stories and blurbs that you include.—-Thank you—–Granny Bear
The coper patina looking things are light fixtures. It’s pretty at night, but the only time you can get into the Del Mar Fairgrounds at night is when there are 50,000 people there to see a concert during the San Diego County Fair.
There are ten or so pavilions in addition to the racetrack, so except for the San Diego County Fair and the horse racing season, there are multiple events going on in separate pavilions, resulting in large crowds whenever I go out there. The rainy season (January) has fewer events scheduled, so fewer people. However, rain and dull gray clouds usually aren’t conducive to taking good pictures.
The wooden walls behind the arches are actually the doors to the horse paddocks.
The cat show usually has about a thousand cats, but I don’t take mine. She gets to stay at home and wonder where I went.
Wow! You answered all of my questions! Thank you. I read a survey, not so long ago, that concluded that San Diego is one of the most “people friendly” US cities. Thank you for taking the time to answer.—–Granny
I do like it, Zoey, I do!
Russell,
Nice photos. Did you actually go “in” the Cat show? If there are several events going on, do you pay one admission or do you have to pay for each event?
I have gone to the cat show since 2009 after I got Zoey the Cool Cat in September 2008.
Each event has its own admission price, and parking at the Del Mar Fairgrounds is $10 per car. Only during the San Diego County Fair and the Del Mar Thoroughbred races can you get into all the buildings for one price since those two events take up all the buildings.
Beautiful pics, Russell. Hope you enjoyed the cat show. I’ve never been to one.
Congratulations on finally achieving your symmetry.
Your fairgrounds are much more attractive than Sacramento’s!
Our Fairgrounds were built by the likes of Bing Crosy, Desi Arnaz, Jimmy Durante, Pat O’Brien, Oliver Hardy, Bette Davis, Barbara Stanwyck……. In other words, people with money built themselves a nice playground to which they could escape Los Angeles.
And they did it very well.
Sometimes I dream of what I could do with money, lots and lots and lots of money………..lol
Would it be fun to give that a try?
Are you volunteering to give me lots and lots and lots of money to see what I could do with it?…………..lol
Cool photos

(See…I can do short and sweet and not rattling on like a long playing record! Occasionally! lol
Spot on examples of all things equal. But not among people, unfortunately.
