Food & Water Bowl XXI — Here a kit, there a cat, everywhere a kit cat
![]()
One of my favorite January events in San Diego is the Food & Water Bowl, sponsored by the San Diego Cat Fanciers.
This year’s event is number XXI and takes place Saturday (1/26) from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday (1/27) from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd. in Del Mar.
Tickets are $9 for adults, $7 for children ages 6 and up, seniors, and military. Children under 6 are free with paid adult.
There is a $2 discount coupon at the lower right side of their web site, San Diego Cat.
This cat show claims to be one of the nation’s largest cat shows and the largest annual cat show west of the Mississippi.
Here are XXI of my favorite pictures from past shows:

Zoey the Cool Cat was feeling left out, so here are five gratuitous pictures of the little queen:

Beautiful Cats!
Zoey may just be a domestic shorthair (facy word for what many people call an alley cat) but she is as pretty as any of the registered show cats. I enjoyed the great pics of so many cats at the cat show.
Zoey the Cool Cat doesn’t believe she is “just” anything, other than just the queen of the house………….lol
What a lovely post. Zoey is so pretty and I think she rules your house..she’s lovely
Ceri
I am definitely a cat person, great photos.
I notice Zoey is sleeping/relaxing in the majority of the photos – I think she needs a kitten-friend
Our 2 go nuts for 20 min bursts, then back to sleep. Love ‘em!
Zoey the Cool Cat wakes me up in the morning for about 15 minutes of fetch with her red rings. After that, it’s food and sleep for the rest of the day. Maybe a little mourning dove stalking for good measure……..lol
Zoey wins!!
So many lovely cats. I am glad you saved the best till last.
Some mean looking cats amid that lot…
I think it has something to do with lots of people poking and prodding them for two days.
I think Zoey is the coolest
super cute kitties!!!
Thank you for following my blog from San Diego California through Europe. I really don’t know how you found me, but i am glad for that. Also, i want to congratulate you for the great stuff you have here. To bad that my blog is only 30 % english. Have a nice day.
I found you through a mutual blogging friend. I’ll be back by in a couple of days to do some camping, reading, liking, commenting……. Keep the camp store open late for me!
Anytime. Thank you for that. And see you in a couple of days. I will do the same thing but not right now because my head is on fire these days.
By the way, I use Google Translator which allows me to read blogs from throughout the world. The Internet is wonderful!
Glad to see my cats aren’t the only ones that like sleeping on the printer
As for the show cats – lovely!!
It’s funny, though, to see Zoey the Cool Cat take off when I turn the printer on. Eventually she returns to chase the paper through the printer……..lol
My printer is usually not switched on, and when they jump up, they inadvertently hit the switch and it starts humming – should see the looks it gets!!
Smashing cats Russel! Great show! My cat Charlie wants to join in
take care pal, SN
The fifth one down looks just like one of my boys – Platinum Tonkinese. Beautiful shots, Russel!
Great shots!
oh my, they are all beautiful.. made me so happy looking at all the kitties and i know it’s the lovely zoey in the last 5 photos.. i love the coat patterns.. thanks russel for these pics.. i truly love them.
Sweet pics. My two keep me amused. One on back porch, the other on the front porch. They can’t stand each other so never cross paths. But they guard the whole house. One is sweet and snuggly. The other is very distant and likes to be left alone—she’s the strong, silent type. They provide a lot of comic relief! I love having them!
Those are some great cats.
*gasp* Why have I not heard of this??? I want to go!! HAHA! They all look so cute and I’m so glad you posted some of Zoey, because this post wouldn’t have been complete without her
great (fun) photos =^..^=
Thanks for visiting my blog. Be in touch. Browse through the category sections,
I feel you may find something of your interest.
I’d have to avoid the cat show. I’d bring home one of each … well … except the hairless cat. They look so old and wrinkled. I feel bad for them. They don’t even look like cats. What a cat without fluffy fur to nestles you hand into on a cold winters night?
Zoey does win 1st prize … ~~~~ : – )
Do you like cats?
Unequivocally yes. Big, small, in between. They are intriguing animals.
As a cat lover, this was a special post! I hope you have another one for this year’s show! Zoey is especially cuter than the rest though…
I’m leaving for the cat show in a few minutes. Look for more fine, furry, felines tonight or tomorrow.
Woo Hoo ~ that’s exactly what I was hoping for! Let me know if they have any American Bobtails or Maine Coon/Tabby mixes!
Maine coons are my favorite. They are so, uh, big! As to the bobtaisl, well, cats should have tails, should have fur, and should have ears that can’t be damaged by petting the cat (American curls).
While I agree…I have to tell you that my bobtail is the heartiest of my 2…Tiffy is a big furry, short-tailed cat who loves to be played with and to be picked up! Chessie (maine coon/tabby) is less rambunctious but that’s probably due to her almost 17 years. One day I’ll send you a pic! I just love that we love our cats! Zoey is adorable as well!
I love this post…the orange tabby looks like my two boys..I see Zoey likes to hang out in the laundry. Ollie loves something warm from the dryer….Michelle
Zoey the Cool Cat never gets a chance at warm, dry, clean clothes because they go directly into closets and drawers.
But she is missing one of the great joys of felinehood..try warming a towel and putting it out…
Maybe I’ll do that as a treat the next time she demands a raise for approving one of these posts……..lol
Cats run the house here too..Just ask them
Love the name of the show!! I’m working backwards here so re my comment about mainly long coats on the other post…I see you have done the shorter coats on this post
Some great pics…but I have to say I fell in love totally with the Zoey the cool cat photos! She is so adorable! That very last one is awesome and she is very beautiful – you captured her wonderfully there
Thanks. I only have about 15,000 pictures of the little queen in all her royal poses……..lol
And they will of course be appearing on your blog won’t they? All 15,000+ thanks! lol
Yes, but it might take a few decades…………lol
That’s ok
I can think of worse ways to grow old and grey lol
Gorgeous cats!!!
