Friday Flower Fiesta (January 11, 2013)
These pictures are of flowers that I found blooming throughout my neighborhood this past week. The yellow rose grows in my garden. I consider it a weed because it grows where I don’t want it to grow. I have done everything I can to get rid of it. It won’t transplant, drought won’t kill it, Round-Up won’t kill it, neglect won’t kill it. It is the rose from Dawn of the Living Dead.

Awesome pictures. Those with the water droplets (dew?) are particularly stunning.
Rain. We’re in our four-week rainy season right now.
Bahaha . . .we’re in our four-month snowy season right over here . . . .
Wow, green (but ONLY with envy) in the snowy Toronto area. Ironically I am in the middle of writing yet another post about “garden envy”!!

Your flower pictures are always stunning. Thanks for sharing.
Maybe the rose likes being where it is???
You’ve really outdone yourself with this post, Russel. The sequence works perfectly, leading through the colors. Also: give that rose a break! It’s a botanical blessing for you, maybe…
thank you for this wonderful collection of flowers, thank you
Great flower pics. Why in the world would you want to kiil a rose that is that hardy. Most people would be over joyed to have a rose that is that pretty and if you are telling the truth then it is one hardy rose. Most roses need to be pampered, fertilized, insecticided, funguicided, watered at just the right time, etc. etc. I stretched 2 words to make them look silly. But you get the idea I am sure.
It doesn’t look good in my cactus garden. Of course, they both have thorns, so maybe they are meant for each other.
Oooooohhhh I see. Maybe opposites attract. The ugly cactus and the beautiful rose but they have one thing in common- thorns!
Thanks for being such a good blogger replying to my comments.
P.S. The fact that roses need to be pampered, fertilized, insecticided, fungicided, and watered at just the right time is exactly why I don’t like roses. My cacti never need to be pampered, fertilized, insecticided, fungicided, or watered at just the right time.
But Russel, did you not write that you have not been able to kill that cotton-picking rose? So IT must be one hardy rascal unless you just threw that in as a yoke, I mean joke!
For the first five years that I lived here, I tried and tried to get rid of the rose. Now I just accept the fact that it has beaten me. Now I just take pictures of it and leave it alone.
I just love these flowers! Hope your New Year has started on a high note, Russel! Cheers
These are so awesome! I’m jealous that you have colorful flowers, and I just see white out my window.
There, there, there. That’s why I’m here, to bring you some color on a snowy winter day……….lol
Thank you!
Beautiful flowers!!! Great shots!!!
Love the flower fiesta!
BUT I love the yellow rose…such a Texas type flower…I do believe there is a song about “The Yellow Rose of Texas” Hee hee!!

That poor rose is apparently not going anywhere, anytime soon!
That poor rose is anything but poor!…………….lol
Perhaps you can’t kill the yellow rose because your sense of friendship (meaning of yellow rose) is so strong?
Hmmm. Or maybe the yellow just likes to antagonize me……..lol
Perhaps ~ or inspire and to send you a bit of sunshine!
LOL, I would die to have such a beautiful rose in the garden….it’s gorgeous
Always pretty flowers
I love yours friday flowers!
Yay! Daisies!!!!! How can I not love that
Perhaps, the yellow rose has a message you’re not able to receive right now…!!!???
OR ,,, not. It’s just stubborn. AAhhh … a woman … that’s what it is.
I guess your stuck with her. lol
Hmmm. You might be on to something!…….lol
Nice flowers. Give up on the rose – if it’s growing, it’s decided to live there (maybe Mother Nature giving you a poke to show who’s boss?)
Does it have any fragrance? Butterflies?
Actually is sounds like a stray cat that’s just moved in….can’t run them off once they decide.
Nice photos
Mother Nature won. I gave up on getting rid of it a couple of years ago. It has only a slight fragrance.
That rose is glorious! Leave it alone you meanie.
I’ve been called worse……..lol
-giggles- No comment?
lovely flowers as usual..the Yellow seems to be the best
With gorgeous flowers as these your neighborhood must be beautiful!
I wish WordPress offered a “favorites” link, I would definitely add your blog, it is a great resource for my beginning photograhy. thanks for dropping by my blog, have a wonderful friday.
I love the yellow rose! My mother has a wonderful yellow rose bush in her front yard in Georgia. It has a lovely fragrance that perfumes the yard and, when she brings it in, the whole house. Is yours fragrant? xoM
Very little. Probably used it all up fighting me…………lol
beautiful pictures
