HAPPY NEW YEAR’S EVE!

Wine a bit -- You'll feel better!

Pictures copyright 2012 Russel Ray Photos

If you do decide to wine a bit:

  1. do it at home
  2. arrange for a designated driver
  3. have someone deliver you and pick you up
  4. get a hotel room
  5. call a cab.

Don’t take public transportation (like the train or a bus) if you’re inebriated. The train and bus police will be out in force because drunk folks tend to damage mass transit facilities, either intentionally or unintentionally. Also don’t go traipsing down the street all wined up; that is also called public intoxication. You don’t need the financial penalties that come with being drunk in public.

Have fun, and best wishes for health, happiness, peace, and prosperity in 2013 and beyond!

  3. Happy New Year. Looks like Zoey has her hotel room sorted.

  4. Happy New Year to you too RR. I so agree with this blog – our road death toll since 1 December is well over 1000 already. Mostly due to DUI. Drive dry, arrive alive as we say here.

  5. ♫ Happy New Year, from Sweden ♫

  11. Hi Russell, I hope you have a happy and prosperous new year and thanks for liking my blog this year. It’s meant a lot as a first time blogger.

  12. What a difference….in Portland all mass transit vehicles: bus, street car and MAX….are free after 8-30p and into the wee hours of the New and Improved 2013…in an effort to provide safe transportation for all…whether drinking or not.

Happy New Year to you RR and Jim!

    • We have some organizations — for profit and nonprofit — that provide rides home but the cities are broke, so they want every penny and they don’t mind if some of those pennies come from those who are drunk in public.

  13. Happy New Year, Russel!

And very good New Year’s Eve advice for everyone!

  14. Happy New Year :D I m going to stay home today with our dog Diego – it s his first Silvester and he s going to party with Relaxan ;)

  18. Happy New Years, Russel Ray. I’ve loved reading your blog this year, camped out many times, copied shamelessly, admired greatly. 24. Sound advice. Loving your blog. Hope you had a marvelous and splendid NYEve.

We were attempting to get back home rather late last night (2 am oh dear…) and happened to be on the wrong street- bars were disgorging what looked like thousands of young people from the bars…it was rather eerie, that foggy, New Year’s Eve night.

Anyhow, grand post, looking forward to discovering more. Cheers and happy 2013!
