Do birds play games?

The birds on the left are the “Lake Park Gangsters” and the birds on the right are the “Fishing Pier Hoods.”
I watched for a while but couldn’t determine which side was winning.
I saw many substitutions, though.
Birds from each rail would fly down into the huddle and other birds would leave the huddle and fly to the rails.

Zoey is definitely a cool cat!
Our birds play games, prank each other, and are very territorial. They’re always refining their intimidation techniques. Sounds like the middle of the pier is open territory!
I’m sure they do…. I’ve sat watching birds for hours.. and some cannot be mistaken for anything else except a game… love the post…
I think all animals play sometimes, even birds. Watch a raven fly, sometimes I think they fly for the sheer joy of it. And there’s the video of a raven sliding down an icy roof over and over again.
Now I’m going to have to go find that video!
Well of course! They have to do something besides just eat you know.
My parrot plays throughout the day. The more intelligent the species, the more the need to play.
Here, at the coast, it’s not unusual to see large seagulls gliding in strong winds. Must be pleasurable otherwise they wouldn’t do it. They’re not looking for food when they do this, btw.
They need to enjoy their lives also
Yes indeed!
Everyone plays games Birds too right now i am sitting facing the window i can see two sparrows hop from one electric wire to another ofcourse just replacing each other and never leave a wire empty
.
At least they’re fooling us…
hahahhahahahha! You have got way to much time on your hands!
Lol, they’re probably picking sides for dodgeball – they just haven’t got a ball!
These gangster birds aren’t playing games though!! They’re serious! They mean real hard business
