Music On Mondays — Help Me Through The Night

I find it funny that all the Republican politicians are anaylzing last Tuesday’s election and trying to figure out why they didn’t win the presidency and the Senate. It’s real easy if you don’t have a sick mind:
Don’t send a bunch of old white men to the media to discuss women’s health, their bodies, and rape. You don’t know, and until you do, you don’t have a right to speak. My wise old grandmother always said, “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” Hell is not big enough for all the women who were scorned by the Republicans in the election.
Don’t summarily dismiss 47% of Americans. If you do summarily dismiss them, at least don’t tell anyone and certainly don’t call them moochers and freeloaders. Most of that 47% were single women, college students, the poor, the unemployed, and even many veterans from past wars, most of which were started under Republican administrations.
Realize that America is a melting pot, and that melting pot includes people who are not white. Did you see the crowds at Romney’s concession speech versus those at Obama’s victory speech. Romney’s crowd were all old white men with a few white women (subservient to their old white men husbands) thrown in for good measure. Obama’s victory speech had white people, young people, women, African-Americans, Asians, and on and on. Diversity is the winning tactic in America.
Don’t lie. If you’re going to lie about your time in the marathon (Paul Ryan) and how you obtained your “binders full of women” (Romney), what else are you lying about?
Don’t hide. Romney’s dad, George Romney, started the tradition in 1968 of releasing tax returns. Everyone except Mitt Romney has always released ten years. Of course, Romney’s ten years would have shown us what really went on with his employment at Bain Capital. If you’re hiding something now, what will you hide from the American people as President?
In honor of all the Republicans who are arguing with themselves and their closest Republican friends, for today’s Music on Mondays, I present Joe Walsh’s “Help Me Through The Night” from his 1974 album “You Can’t Argue With A Sick Mind.”
Lyrics
Somewhere along the way, I found a meaning
Woke up dreaming along the way
Never quite seems the same when you awaken
And making up for the time is such a price to pay
And it takes the dream away
And it just ain’t fair
Help me through the night, mama
Help me to ease the pain
Tell me it’s alright
Help me through the night, once again
That’s the danger in pretending
Trying to defend yourself from someone else’s war
Don’t know what they’re fighting for
And I just don’t care
So help me see the light, mama
Open my eyes again
And tell me it’s alright
Help me through the night, once again
Could you help me?

There should be a “love” button for this post! RIGHT ON!
No arguments from one Canadian who set up my own booth to vote for Obama
hear hear!
Precisely!
They didn’t win, because they didn’t get enough votes. Simple really.
Love the lyrics.
That’s toooooooooooo simple!………..lol
A-freaking-men!!
tis true
Excellent post! I agree – I don’t know what year the Republicans are living in these days.
Great post, great music!!
The race was over the minute Romney chose Paul Ryan for his running mate.
I celebrate that U.S. good sense won.
Awesome music and awesome words!
Amen!
all your “sensitivity” is a mask Russ~sorry
What sensitivity? I refuse to admit that I’m sensitive. Not me! Nope! Not me!………………lol
Love this…Yes if the Republicans listened to something other than Fox News they would not have been so shocked at the election results!
Note to Tea Party – Obama won and the U.S. is still standing!
It’s hard to believe all those stupid men could be so stupid.
You’re right on every point, and as for Romney’s lies, there were not just a few—they were endless. I’m still wondering why almost half the U.S. voted for him.
It is amazing that 56 million people would vote for him.
Love this post and your points. Very astute.
Yep. That 47% stuff is what did it for me, too. Sheesh.
Zoey looks like she’s tired of politics now!
She thinks politics took me away from her……..lol
Beautifully stated!
We are all relieved. The Romney ticket seemed insincere in every way. You’re spot on, what else would they lie about. Hope those narrow minded old white guys dragging down society learned a lesson.
What a great and excellent post, Republicans definitely have much to change if they want to be in the White House again. Having said that, I don’t know how anyone ever believed any word that came out of fake and insincere Romney!
Sadly, self-delusion is the easiest form of lying and those old white men have been telling themselves the same story for a very long time.
