San Diego Sculptors Guild in Spanish Village in San Diego’s Balboa Park

Located in Balboa Park, not too far from the San Diego Zoo, is Spanish Village, a collection of 41 artist studios located around a central courtyard.
One of the studios is the San Diego Sculptors Guild, which I visited for a couple of hours yesterday:

Sculptures are always on exhibit in the sculpture gallery and many sculptures are for sale. On any given day you might see some of San Diego’s best-known sculptors on site creating new works of art.
As I was wandering around Spanish Village early yesterday morning (before the gallery opened), Gerhard Anderson, Stone Sculptor, invited me in to look around. Imagine having a whole gallery just to yourself for a couple of hours! Man did I feel special!
Here are some pictures of the beautiful art at the San Diego Sculptors Guild, Gallery 36, Spanish Village in Balboa Park:

Some awesome work there
wow….. there is some good stuff there…
Thanks for sharing your private tour! Great photos.
I especially love #’s 1 & 3 because I have such a strong music bend…though I think the silverware mirror would also be pretty fantastic as wall decor in the right dining room.
Thanks for sharing!
I have not had the chance to explore all of Balboa Park but will definitely have it on the list for when we return.
Russell, you always go such interesting place. And, as always, the photos are fantastic!
Love Balboa Park!
Wondrous works! Thanks for sharing and for capturing it so beautifully. I especially like the chain planter boxes, though there are so many other amazing pieces.
I came very close to taking those chain planter boxes home with me. That piece is soooooooo me. I think that’s the real reason I stuck around for two hours. I was trying to justify $300 for them. In the end, I just couldn’t do it……..lol
I’ve stood in those struggling shoes many times and have given up lots of good meals for art when the ‘must have art’ voice won.
I think I understand although I have never had a “must have art” voice. However, I have had a “must have car” voice and a “must have plant” voice and a “must have music” voice in the past. Those three voices nearly bankrupted me!………….lol
Shows a healthy soul, I think, Russel. lol
Very interesting stuff!
You’re so fortunate to live in such a beautiful and creative city. Thank you for sharing it with us and for your visit over at Hoof Beats this week. Bella
