Music on Mondays — It’s the kiss of death
All the hubbub last week was over Bond, James Bond.
It was the 50th anniversary of the first James Bond movie, “Dr. No” (Many people think the first was “Goldfinger”; it was third.),
there’s a new James Bond movie coming out,
and “Skyfall,” the new James Bond movie theme song by Adele, was released.
All of that caused me to dig into my music collection to listen to all the Bond movie theme songs. For today’s Music on Mondays, I thought we’d listen to Adele’s Bond song and share with you my five favorite Bond movie songs.
First, here’s “Skyfall,” by Adele:
My favorite (I’m a big Paul McCartney fan)
1973′s “Live and Let Die”
The incomparable Shirley Bassey singing 1964′s “Goldfinger.”
1985′s “A View To A Kill” by Duran Duran
1995′s “GoldenEye” by Tina Turner

Huge James Bond Fan…every Christmas I would watch the latest release…love him. Love the music
Great music choices!!
I’d have to go with Live and Let Die and Nobody Does it Better. Looking forward to the newest Bond movie. Love Daniel Craig in the role.
I love the cat! great blog too.
You brought up one of my Welsh vocal heros, Dame Shirley Bassey and I wanted to share this really cool song with you that she did. Enjoy Russel!
Wow! That’s her at age 70! Mamma mia!
I know huh LOL
Thanks Jaz… never heard that one before… big thanks to Russell for putting this together!!!
which one does Zoey like? I’m partial to anything Adele
Zoey the Cool Cat pretty much takes after her Chief of Staff, who is partial to “Live and Let Die.”
Russell, I LOVE this, your blog is pure delight. I agree with number 1 and 2 as well. Adele is a force to be reckoned with so it will be fun to see where she ends up on the list. Sean Connery remains my favorite of all Bond men.
I’m torn between Connery, Brosnan, and Craig. I’ve been a Brosnan fan since “Remington Steele” from the early 1980s.
Whenever I think of Bond. I can’t help but hear “Live & Let Die” playing in the recesses of my brain… Adele was a perfect choice for the new movie! Gotta have that sassy rasp to match 007!
Sean Connery is 007…the one replacement that has come even close is Daniel Craig! As for the music I’ll agree #1…Live & Let Die.
Live and Let Die – one of the best Bond movie songs. My #1 too.
Great post and wonderful music. This is the first time I have heard this Adele song. I love her music. Thanks Russel
Great music choices! I do love Adele. Wow, you feel her pain and passion with every word she sings.
Love Live and Let Die for the incomparable JW Pepper of the Louisiana State Police!
Shirley Bassey/Goldfinger has always been a standout for me…’Live & let die” close behind.
be good to yourself
David
Thank you for the trip back through memory lane – and the glimpse into the future. I love the new song and would put it near the top (and would move A-ha up that list because they’re still one of my favourite music groups of all time.) I love the haunting rasp of Adele and think she’ll move up near the top with that one. That song could have been performed in the early Bond days. Has a very Shirley Bassey feel to it.
#4, #1, #7, #14, #19.
Good fims, good music and a Cool relaxing cat
