Scenes from……………the boondocks
My home inspection yesterday was out in the boondocks, and not just any boondocks. These were boondocks I had never been in before. Enjoy.
San Vicente Avenue, the main “street” into the subdivision.
(Avenue? This wasn’t looking good for the city boy.)
Photogenic birds in the boondocks
Front lawn ornaments were different from in the city
Historic home in the boondocks
(love the fire hydrant on the corner)
Rocky Lane — the street where I would be doing the home inspection
(this city boy has a different visual for “Lane”)
Grandpa’s backyard chair at sunrise
Boondocks pets were larger than city pets
Swimming pools were a little different
(this was a community pool shared by six families)
Toys from four generations
(Not a computer or television anywhere!)
Street addresses were different
A boondocks kitchen
(just like my wise old grandmother had;
yes, originally I am from the boondocks, in Texas)
One of Grandpa’s farming implements
Lastly, if your house burned in the October 2003 Cedar Fire, be sure to rebuild a bigger and badder house, even if you’re already on top of the mountain. That will teach Mother and Father Nature a thing or two! Ha!
The boondocks map
(It looks like a nice subdivision on the map! Ha!
The only paved road is in yellow in the lower left corner.)

Not sure I could live without the computer but other than that the house looks amazing and would love that size pet
I enjoyed your photos but especially your CAPTIONS! Very funny.
Thoroughly enjoyed those pics, looks like something out of American Pickers programme, that car is great but cant identify it.
Cheers
Emu
I loved your take on the boondocks!
My stream of conscious thoughts while reading your post:
The location looks somewhat like a reservation with all the dirt, dust, dilapidation.
I like the mountain view as imagined from the chair, but what can I say about that ridiculous house except maybe “wildly out of place!!”
What were they thinking!!!!?!!!
Ps: Tell Zoey, Clarisse says, “hi!” !
Wow; I felt as if I were riding in the copilot seat! Thanks for the glimpse of the boondocks, a pleasant change from the city! Z
Wonderful photos. Thanks for the recent camp out.
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
Sound like a different kinda place. Down here in Florida there are alot of dirt roads… I’m not used to seeing those.
Hi Russel,
I really like those old toys: they’re wonderful!
Take care, and have a good one,
Pit
Great pictures. I’ve seen places like that, but your camera makes them look more magical than they really are.
Wow! Thanks for the peek into the lives of those living in the boondocks. I’ve heard of this place, but never knew what it meant.
Great photos—loved the horse picture–
I loved the post! great pictures…

Thank you, Renee!
YOU are most welcome.
i think those toys are awesome.. and the kiddie bike reminds me of my grandfather because he gave me a similar bike for my 5th birthday..
Looks like Alfred Hitchcock could film there. Holy man, that is solitude to the max.
I like the bird with the big thing in it’s mouth.
What a great opportunity for photographing new subject matter, it looks like you had a nice time.
Those are cool
