Today’s Out & About expedition was to the Seventh Annual Del Mar Surf Dog Surf-a-thon. What a blast! I have never seen so many dogs in all my life, even at a dog show. On second thought, I guess this was a dog show, kind of……….

I’ve always had great respect for dogs…they are so fearless and joyful!
And they love to get all wet and sandy, unlike kitty cats………….lol
Great pictures. Our dog, rescued from the streets in Mexico, loves the beach too.

The photos are great! Il oved the ones where they had life jackets on!!
The life jackets are required to be worn by the surfing dogs. The jackets have handles on them to easily allow the owners, spotters, and rescuers to easily retrieve a dog caught in the surf. It was the coolest event!

Zoey the Cool Cat was none too happy. I had to take her out on the back patio and sit with her listening to the water and watching the birds………..lol

Those photos are just wonderful. Both my dogs love to swim and one of them loves fishing. He will spend hours trying to catch something. He never does but you have to give him marks for trying.
Oh…you have an American Eskimo surfing!! That is what I have but the closest he gets to the water is the toilet. This is so funny to see them getting so wet and loving it! A great series!

oh man, I wish I could have been there. I bet it was a blast. I just took a bunch of pictures at a dog park next to the river that goes thru our city. I could watch them all day long. Barking, playing and all with big smiles on their faces. I especially like the lab in the green t-shirt there.
So, who won?!
I don’t know. They had different categories for dog sizes – small, medium, large, extra large, and really reallylarge — I could only stay for a couple of hours, so all I saw were the small, medium, and large dogs. They announced the winners later in the afternoon, about four hours after I left.
I don’t know how you could leave that wheezy roly poly gorgeous bulldog behind…
He was a slow bulldog, too, probably because those short legs kept sinking in the sand, but he was having the time of his life.
