  1. The stapelia is my fav!!!!

    • Yippee! That makes me happy because I had a really ugly picture of stapelia blooms and never knew what to do with it. This morning I spent some time pulling the best blossom out of the picture, working on the contrast, and then putting it on a black background to make it look as beautiful as it actually is. Getting it to look natural on a solid black background was a chore but after several (Several? Ha! Several is three. About twenty!) tries, I thought I arrived at something that I could be proud of.

  2. Doctor: “I’m sorry, but you’re suffering from a terminal case of tuberous begonia.”

Patient: “How long have I got?”

Doctor: “I’m afraid it’s just an annual.” :P

  3. It has to be the Iris for my pick this week. The color is rich and the flower is delicate. As always thanks for sharing.

  4. Haha…I love your really “technical” names like the whatzit flower! My favourite is the one at the top. Must be from a very warm zone–never seen one in my area (zone 4/5).

  5. Too beautiful! Especially #1. Thanks, Russel!

  6. All are stunning; especially the Iris!

  7. I think I like Doohicky flower. I should have been more creative about my Shell Beach flowers. They are all lovely!

  8. Love the names you gave them as well as the photos! Doohickey and whatzit! Love your creativity!

  9. Dearest Russell I am in aw of the photos you take. I just got myself a camera. A Nikon Coolpix that has many features and ways to take pictures and it is a really nice camera. I know that it is probably not on par with your photo equipment but it is good for a beginner like me and I hope I use it well and true and make some of the most beautiful photos I can I don’t know how you do it. See I live in Texas and everything is pretty dead due to drought and its hard to get a great photo of a flower, Please feel free to contact a Witch if you need one. I am Byrony of the Foray into Wicca. I just got a ton of Calligraphy supplies and I got some paper and chalk and I got a bunch of books from Half Priced Books and they are all about witchcraft and how to perform it. I have to start my year and a day again so I may be the best witch I can be. I am actually a Wiccan. You should contact me if you need business to pick up, a lover to know you exist, a bad situation, or your health is off. Please feel free. Brightest Blessings, Byrony.

    • You’ll have fun with it! And don’t underestimate the beauty you can find in dead things!

      • Thank you Russel. I am glad that you answered my post it is nice to be recognized. I wish I could perform some kind of magic for you. I know that some don’t believe in magic. But what most people don’t understand is that magic is just energy and the ability to manage and change it and keep it on a course to do with it what you will. With harm to none. I would love to do something to make your life better in some way and I’ve got all the supplies to do it with. If you ever need my services you have my promise never to hurt you or to harm anyone you care for in fact I harm no one unless I myself am harmed then I stop them or bind them. You have a blessed day. I hope you understand that means from the bottom of my heart.

  10. beautiful flowers. My favourites were the third one from the top and the Iris..

  11. Beautiful pictures. I love the Angels trumpet :)

  12. Nice photos! I have a “whatzit” flower in my garden, too. But it doesn’t look anything like yours. Hummmm. Maybe you have miss identified yours. :)
