The Goose Lady of Lake Murray
I go for a walk or bike ride each day as a way to force me to get out from behind the computer. One of the places that I enjoy going is Lake Murray, which is part of the huge Mission Trails Regional Park:
It’s a very popular place for walkers, bikers, fisherpeople, boaters, birders, readers, thinkers, and sitters. Whenever I go around 6:00 a.m., it never fails that I see a lady feeding the geese. I call her “The Goose Lady.”
She and I were the only two there this morning, and I watched her interact with the birds, all of which have names. As best I could tell, they even know their names.
That’s the kind of picture that I like to play around with to create something artistic, so I created my “paint by number” painting and a line art picture using Photoshop and CorelDRAW!, respectively.

Very nice, I like doing editing like yours on my photos too: It is creative work in that area!
The last change makes me look harder at the scene. Don’t ask me why. I am not an artist; I worked in industry and the developement of other smart people’s ideas. Thanks for the variations; I enjoyed them.
Love them both… If she’s there next time, you should show her! I’m sure she’d be touched.
That is very good!
I love the way yu played around with those two programs. The
photo takes on an artsy feel although the original looks more
peaceful and relaxed. Really creative … nice.
Hey, I’ve done that walk too, hiked the rest of Mission Trails as well. It’s beautiful.
Goose-y
Wow like the changes xx
Love her. And geese are so intelligent, of course they’d know their names! I fed one for a whole year so we could eat it at Christmas. But we couldn’t of course. So the parents swapped it for someone else’s goose, damn them.
lol…….I know the parrots and parakeets are quite intelligent, as well as the ravens and crows, so it really doesn’t surprise me about the geese.
I love the 2nd pic of the goose lady Russell. Been wanting to do this with one of our pics. Must try this at some point. As always, thank you for the inspiration.
Good job, Russel. You have given us a new way to look at the same scene. I get the feeling the “Goose Lady” sees them as her pets.
Blessings ~ Maxi
I think so, too. I used to see them as my pets because I usually feed them in the evenings. Now I know they belong to someone else………….lol
Love the first digital painting. Number two doesn’t have enough color for me.
Very Nice, I like picture #2, Did you show the Goose Lady your art work?
Not yet. I printed out a copy of each, though, and will take them with me whenever I go to Lake Murray. When I see her, she’ll get them.
Your playful renditions bring out details I did not give attention to in the original photo.
Thank you for that!
Very nice Russell.
This is so sweet
I can’t wait to see her again and give her the three pictures that I printed.
Really fun pictures.
The third one is amazing … looks like fabric.
Wow nice job! HAHA
