That lizard looks huge, like crocodile size or something!
It was. It’s a monitor and was about six feet long.
Wow, Love the photos
Leaping lizards.
Excellent photography
Emu
WOW!!
A wonderful closeup picture
Oh that’s so funny, Alys from Gardening Nirvana and I were just commenting about the Safari Park at San Diego Zoo, thank’s for the preview.
Amazing photos of amazing creatures!
Great shots, Russel!
Love the captured Lizard with his tongue sticking out.
Bats are protected here in the UK. I used to see many flying but sadly the numbers get less and less. Wishing you a good Day where you are and loving your photos. – Sue
I really like those bats!
Well you seem to like a lot of my shots that were of nature, water, etc—i.e. all that is docile!
One of those shots you must have been level to the lizard (comodo dragon?) Regardless of the lens length you used, that is still pretty gutsy! Gotta love the shots that put you out there!
Mr. Lizard is a Zoo Ambassador so he’s pretty domesticated.
Yea yea yea…so are horses (non sequitur) but big animals are strong!
Horses, though, are big fast animals. Mr. Lizard is not………….lol
Touche!
very cool photos!!!
Good photos but a prefer Zoey, the cool cat !!
Oh, I have always wanted to visit the San Diego Zoo… It’s supposed to be one of the best in the country! Love the pics!
I’ve been to every major Zoo except the Bronx Zoo and the San Diego Zoo does rank at the top of my list. Other Zoos in my Top 10 include Memphis Zoo, Henry Doorlly Zoo (Omaha), New Orleans Zoo, Houston Zoo, Minnesota Zoo.
Excellent! I’m filling my bucket list to the brim! The Bronx Zoo is the closest to us at about 5 hours away. My husband was just telling me about that one a week ago… must be a sign to plan another ROAD TRIP – Woohoo!!!
Going to the San Diego Zoo soon and am looking over your posts for inspiration.
Let me know if you need a guide!
What a great offer. Thank you. You could give me some great photo advice as to how to shoot the different animals. I’m going to be with several people, though, and they have an “agenda.” But next time…….:)
Sadly, I will miss the bats, which I would love to photograph, because we won’t get to the Safari Park this time. I will be going to see the birds, though.
What camera are you using?
Nikon D90 with an 18-270 zoom. What about you?
You shouldn’t have any problems with that setup at the Zoo. It might be a little short for the Safari Park, but that’s in the future.
My walkaround setup is a Canon 550D with a 28-300 zoom.
I’m secretly wishing for a Canon, like a Mark III or some such number. It’s only natural since I’m Pisces (2 fish, opposite directions). But that will have to wait for the future, too.
Instead of buying a Canon, which would require a new set of lenses, I’d suggest buying super lenses for the Nikon and learning something like Photoshop. If you have the eye for photography, Photoshop can make your good pictures great and your great pictures superb!
WOW! Love this pictures, great post!
I was thinkin’ little geckos, like our cat Sebrina chases around the porch. Great job, Russel.
Blessings – Maxi
Zoey the Cool Cat has a little lizard friend that lives under the pots on the window ledge outside. When that little lizard comes out (and he’s about a foot long) Zoey the Cool Cat has a fit. It’s like catnip for other cats (ZCC doesn’t respond to catnip).
awesome photos..
Wow that’s awesome! I’ve never really seen a bat close up before, they must have been fun to photograph
