  1. Interesting photos.
If I may tell You one secret of my own,I love photos but I am afraid of big birds (since my childhood) so I can not stay for long today.
Wish You very good sleep(what is time in San Diego now??I believe it is still night, about 3 a.m.
    with love and respect,milena

  2. I’m turning green with envy…. Lovely pics.. :)

  3. Oh I love big birds – fantastic photos Russel!

  4. as you know my father is a birder and as such he spent years dragging me around desolate parts of Africa and I have been privaledged to see the relatively rare, pygmy geese and shoebill in the wild, I’ve also regularly seen the common Hammerkop and knob billed geese which are pretty good eating in the wild. Thanks for the memories of Africa

    • You’re welcome! I suspect it wasn’t until you were older that you appreciated being dragged around Africa. That’s often how it works.

      • in all honesty I loved it even back then, although my interes in birds was less for their aesthetic beauty than it is now, back then I was a full blown geek with dreams of becoming a zoologist/ornithologist, now I’m happy to just look and go oooh that’s pretty where as my fathers realising his dream of making a living from it.

  5. Such a variety in one place!

  6. Good Morning Russel, Thanks for camping out on my blog today. Have a Blessed Weekend! :-)

  10. Love this African pygmy goose and the swan goose! What a fantastic collection of water fowl this San Diego Zoo does have! Hooray!

  12. Awesome! I’d like to visit some day… When are we going to be treated to ann all-Zoey’s post? Pretty please?

  13. So strange haha! But also very beautiful :)
