Out & About

I went online to renew my annual pass to SeaWorld, and that’s when I saw that members can enter the park an hour before the park officially opens. For one purpose, and one purpose only: to ride Manta:

Manta opened this past Memorial Day weekend, which is when I rode it for the first time. But to get into the park before all the crowds, just to ride Manta, well, I couldn’t summarily dismiss that. So off I went to SeaWorld yesterday at 7:45 a.m.

Just one problem: Manta was broken. “Technical difficulties” and “No estimated time for resumption.”

Since I was already at SeaWorld, I thought I would go back to the car, get my handy dandy Canon 550D, and take a few pictures before leaving. That’s when I discovered that the flamingos were back.

Before half the park was dismantled to construct Manta, there was a huge lagoon with flamingos. Just before construction started, Shazam!, disappearing flamingos. Before they disappeared, they would go on a “flamingo walk” around the park. I’ve never been privileged to witness the flamingo walk, and I didn’t find out until after I got home that flamingo walk is back! Yeah! Yahoo! and Yippee!

I’m going back to SeaWorld on Friday just to see if I can get some pictures of the flamingo walk. Until then, you’ll just have to be satisfied with these pictures of the SeaWorld flamingos:

  1. I didn’t know Sea World had rides! That tells you how long it’s been. When my boys are a little older I’d like to take them to the zoo and Sea World. I enjoyed it so much as a kid.

  2. Cool pics of the flamingos, not sure I want to take that ride…

  3. Wow – those flamingos are beautiful!

  4. I’ll stick to the flamingos, listen to the screams of those on the ride, and be glad I’m earthbound.

  5. Flamingos pics are fantastic (but you could never pay me enough money to go on any of those rides!)

  6. I also didn’t know Sea World had rides. You are giving me a case of California envy.

  7. wonderful pics – some are almost unreal – the colours so vivid

  8. I luuuuuuv fun crazy rides and I luuuuuv flamingos!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Hi Russel,
Wonderful pictures. But I don’t think I’d ever ride the Manta! I’m afraid I’m afraid – so to speak. ;)
Take care, and have a good one,
    Pit

I’m dizzy from just looking at the photo’s. Have fun whenever you go …!!!!

  11. Great photo’s looking forward to seeing the Flamingo walk. Unfortunately the ride makes me feel dizzy just looking at it! Thank you for the ‘likes’ much appreciated.

  12. Great photos! Just wanted to let you know that you’ve been nominated for the Sunshine Blog Award! Congrats :) http://hurdlestohappiness.wordpress.com/2012/08/09/sunshine-blog-award/

  13. What is it about being scared to death that seems so fun. Mr B would love that ride, I would go reluctantly and scream my head off.

  14. Awesome photos. Wish I was there.

  15. Amazing photos! Love the shazam! :D
