Finders keepers, and I do not share!
The birds in La Jolla are not stupid.

Must have a supplier around somewhere lol
Funny pictures of a clever critter.
On another note, do you know anything about the Hotel La Jolla, which recently reopened after a renovation? We’re looking for a nice place to stay when we visit. Thanks…
I’m not sure why they renovated it because it was always a great place. I have not been there since they reopened it. You certainly can’t go wrong with staying there, though. It’s pretty close to everything in La Jolla and easy access to the freeways.
Thanks a lot, Russ.
It would be very interesting to see him try to open the baggie!
He was working on it but some children caused him to fly away with his goodies.
I wonder what he paid for that..? lovely capture…
Same with those in Huntington Beach: they carry the mussels high in the air, and drop them to brake the shell… Now in my book of evolution, that’s smart!
Those are smart birds
Very clever birds indeed. Love the photos
I nominated you for the One Lively Blog award! Enjoy, and thanks for the quality of your articles and photos!
Thank you sir!
YOu’re welcome, I still need to work a bit, but It’s getting there1
What a well-done, cute, and comedic set of photos this is, Russel. Is that a baggie of animal crackers the adorable little feather head has? Our twenty-eight-month old granddaughter has a passionate love for animal crackers and this made me laugh out loud when I pictured her trying to snag her beloved treats back from this mischievous critter.
Maybe it’s a Michigan thing, but a lot of folks around here consider gulls to be pests. Personally, I love them. Not only are they quite clever, but I find them to be beautiful and graceful, as well. Your photography captures that clever spirit of theirs perfectly. Thank you very much for sharing that spirit with the rest of us.
I couldn’t get close enough to see what was in the Ziploc bag. Guls are considered pests here, too, because, as you can see, they are smart, devious, aggressive………..lol
Smart, devious, and sometimes aggressive… Hmmm… Now, are we describing/discussing the gulls or the aforementioned mischievous — albeit loving, adorable, and charming — two-year-old granddaughter of mine with her obsessive passion for animal crackers?
*bursts out laughing*
Just imagining how he’ll try to open that. Probably, he will drop in on a rock repeatedly as he would with a shellfish or starfish in the hopes . . . .
he he he… this was a lovely one… Thanks and Love, nia
Cool! And, when I first glanced at Zoe, the cat you are taking care of (for me), it looked like she had burst into flames.
That’s the light from the heat lamp. A few years ago I ran out of standard 60-watt bulbs for the hanging lamp above the printer, so I put a 60-watt heat lamp in until I could get to the store. Zoey the Cool Cat jumped up on the printer and laid down. The rest is history.
I hope the bird did not swallow the bag!
Last I saw it, it had torn the bag open and was eating the chips.
Amazing! Hugs and have a good night my friend!
This reminds me of a camping trip in which a family of racoons made off with a tupperware box of dog food. To-go box!
This is a great one, Russel! A little laughter and photography= awesome!
lol..I love seagulls, they’re so brutally clever
Nice pix, Zoey!
HAhahaha … lunch anyone???
Haha! That was great! Too funny.
Man those birds are getting more and more picky on what they eat
HAHA!
Poor bird. He (or she) thinks that is a yummy sandwich in that zip-lock bag.
