Zoey the Cool Cat’s new BFF

My wise old grandmother

If my wise old grandmother were living in today’s world, I’m pretty sure she would qualify as a Master Gardener. I learned so much from her just in the eight years I lived with her. Two things I learned are that an abundance of worms indicates excellent soil, and that frogs in the garden are good.

Zoey the Cool Cat was having a fit at the back patio door all day today. Finally, when we went out to sit and read, I think I discovered what had her so excited:

  1. Zoey the Cool Cat must have had fun playing with the frog, or at least attempting to play with it. Why are frogs good for the garden? I know that worms are excellent, but have never heard about frogs. :)

    • Frogs keep the garden clean, i.e., no mosquitos, no gnats. There are just enough bug pests to keep the little ecosystem going but the frogs keep them under control. I have lots of water fountains around my back patio, as well as lots of plants that get a daily watering. All of that is conducive to mosquitos and gnats, and I had noticed a couple of weeks ago that the gnats were getting out of control but then suddenly got better. Hmmm. I think some frogs have found a nice delicatessan…….lol

  2. Luv frogs and worms…
My little dog ‘Sweetie’ however; loves them too…. so much that she picks them up in her little mouth and brings them inside to ‘show us’ what a good hunter/provider she is. One day she brought in a little (1″ long) green frog. On picking up said frog it was as limp as a dead leaf. Partner K put the little fellow in the garbage bin. Two days later, whilst putting rubbish into said bin, the little green frog could be seen jumping on top of the refuse. Lucky little green frog that one; was nearly on his way to the big crusher in the garbage truck…. ;)

  3. I have frogs in my garden too! And I recently liberated the worms from my worm farm so hopefully they’ll get busy in the soil. :D Lovely pic.

  4. You went out to read. When the frog saw what you had with you, he said “Reddit”

  5. I love to see frogs jump!

  6. Oh yeah, Zoey was ready for some fun.
    Blessings – Maxi

  7. Yep – that would do it!!! She just wanted to play with her friend!

  8. I would think that Zoey would try to eat the frog, no?

  9. great frog! how can one not love zoey, who brings us smiles?! z

  10. I’m a kind of scary of frogs, when they’re in my garden, I am out. When my cat is playing with a frog, and the frog is screaming, I save him by pulling the cat inside with a broom :)
