Peace, Attoo
San Diego’s Ocean Beach is a unique beach community, sometimes being accused of living in a time warp. If their use of neon, which probably peaked in the mid-1980s, is any indication, a time warp it is, but a beautiful one.
I’m pretty sure Attoo is one of those aliens in Star Trek. Peace be with you, Attoo.

all fab.
Almost sounds like a polite sneeze.
Love those neon signs, Russel.
That’s exactly what I thought when I came across the two pictures in that order! I didn’t even have to think about making them the last two pictures.
Still get a lot of neon in France but you’re right about it going out of fashion elsewhere – apart from the red light areas in most cities
Lovely shots.
There are two properties in downtown San Diego that have neon. One has six green neon octagons on top of the six buildings and the other has a red neon stripe down the side of the building. Outside of those two, one has to go to Ocean Beach to see neon.
Nice neon fotos!
Great photos, Russel, and a thought just struck home. I wonder what we would all do if we didnt have the Power to generate electricity? Advertising would be gone, the streets dark, and I wouldn’t be typing here to you!.. Fridges and freezers no more and the world as we know it would be no more!… All from seeing just how much we rely upon Power.. Seeing these adverts.. amazing our train of thoughts! Thank you for allowing my brain to work overtime this Sunday Morning!
Look at what happened in India a few days ago: 660 million people without electricity. No showers because water pumps weren’t working. No way to store or cook food. On and on. I think it’s going to get worse before it gets better because the human race just can’t control its ego in overpopulating the Earth.
Totally agreed with you here.. and yes..
We aint seen nothing yet… as they say here
And if we get a solar flare that hits,in the wrong spot. well you said it Russel.
Excellent shots, Russel. Also love the photo of Zoey. Her stamps should be in a collector’s book! (I also notice that they’re getting to be more expensive.)
Cathy
Now you’ve done gone and put ideas in Zoey the Cool Cat’s head, making it that much bigger……….lol
Being “owned” by two exceptional felines myself, I can certainly understand your concern…:-)
I wanna go to the Bar~B~Que House with you Russel!
Just give me a call when you get here!
Love these shots – very interesting compositions – it’s interesting to see what you leave out. What does the CND sign belong to?
CND?
As a lover of neon signs, I think these are among the coolest.
Btw, my best friend lives with me and has a cat named Sebrina … she looks just like Zoey. I tell her that all the time.
Blessings to you – Maxi
I think I might go get a ATTOO this weekend lol! I have a photograph of a doughnuts sign that was illuminated at night and all it said was “O NUTS” lol
