Music on Mondays — One piece at a time
On this date in 1903, the Ford Motor Company sold the very first Model A to a dentist in Chicago. Arguably, that’s when the car culture in America started.
I have a lot of car songs in my music collection — “409″ and “Little Deuce Coup” (Beach Boys), “64 Ford” (Phranc), “Slick Black Cadillac” (Quiet Riot), “Rockin’ Down the Highway” (Doobie Brothers), “Four Wheel Drive” (Bachman-Turner Overdrive)……
All of them are fun to rock out to while cruisin’ down the highway. Perhaps the one I have the most fun with is a 1976 song by Johnny Cash & The Tennessee Three titled “One Piece At A Time.”

I always loved the song “Beep Beep” by the Playmates.
That’s the other one I was thinking of but I couldn’t think of the name or the group at the time. After about 20 minutes I gave up. Thanks for bringing it up!
Love that Phranc track, must go dig it out again, Thanks for the reminder
I like that song too! I also like Hot Rod Lincoln.
Ha, ha, this brings back memories of my favorite Johnny Cash song:”A Boy Named Sue” Got to say this is in close competition!
I LOVE THIS SONG!!!
Another good car song is “Black and White Thunderbird” by the Delicates. My husband and I love cars and go to so many car shows. He has a boxed set of all songs about cars and the Johnny Cash song is on there, but I loved it since I heard it on the radio as a kid.
He probably has “Hot Rods & Custom Classics,” which I also have. A great collection of car songs!
Yes, I think that’s it!
So many memories you bring back of all those car commercial golden oldies!
I love that hot rod lincoln song!
loved that song! the one about the car I mean.
