Friday Flower Fiesta — Drippers & Rounders

Friday Flower Fiesta

Pictures copyright 2012 Russel Ray Photos

With over 75,000 pictures and counting….

What do I do with them? I have some interesting ones but selling pictures in today’s world when digital cameras and phones have made professional photographers out of everyone is difficult, almost impossible. One word seems to sum up what is required. Drum roll please……….

UNIQUE

If it’s not unique, it won’t sell. Sometimes something starts off unique and then sells millions, removing its uniqueness. The iPhone and iPad come immediately to mind.

Recently, while playing around with Photoshop CS6, I discovered a way to add some UNIQUE to my flower photos. I can even make a bad flower photo (yes, I keep even the bad flower photos) UNIQUE. I call my new creations….

Well, I call them CREATIONS! See how creative I am?………..:)

More specifically, I call them DRIPPERS and ROUNDERS, and for today’s Friday Flower Fiesta, I’d like to share a few DRIPPERS and ROUNDERS, and show you the original photo, as well.

DRIPPERS and ROUNDERS are for sale at very reasonable prices, from the digital file itself to cards to unframed prints to framed prints. Check out my galleries at Fine Art America. You can also see a picture of me for those of you who still believe that I look like a cat.

Even an otherwise nondescript picture (the Yellow and Purple Flowers) can become a work of art.

I presume you can see why I call them DRIPPERS and ROUNDERS.

Lastly, Zoey the Cool Cat wanted to see what she looked like as a DRIPPER and a ROUNDER:

  1. Don’t tell Zoey I said this, but the modified Cone pics look even more sinister than she does!
    Great effects, Russel.

  2. Oh, I so love Zoey! :) When I came to the end of the pictures & saw her swirly head, I smiled.

I love Saturday mornings too – my catch up time with interesting pages…

I’ve got to say Russel, I am stunned, I truly am. No. 1, I love the colours on these flowers, the natural colours, but then, what you’ve done with it! I love the Bird of Paradise Dripper & the Rounder. They are definitely unique. I am so impressed. I had no ideas camera packages could do this sort of thing, & I admire you for discovering it.

It’s true though, there is the potential for photographs in everyone’s pocket these days, though I personally think I’d only capture a picture with my phone if it was… well, yes – unique! Like if I met my idol of teen age & still: Guillermo Vilas.

  3. Zoey does not look amused.

  4. Awesome photos Russel!
    The concept is amazing!

  5. Fantastic photos, Russell! You have a great talent :) Thanks for sharing!

  6. The conversions are contemporary and eye-catching! Remarkable!

  7. I’m in love with Zoey.

  8. So much fun! Very vibrant colors! Love the special effects. Pics of Zoey are crazy!!!!

  9. Zoey looks a little disapproving!
Have you thought of creating those photobook thingys?

  10. Amazing….very unique just like Zoey:) I love Zoey….Minnie says yeah me too…he could be Minnie’s relative for sure…they look so much a like:)

  11. Cool, but a little weird with the cat. :-)

  12. You created Unique! well done! now frame those DRIPPERS & ROUNDERS and I bet you they will indeed sell! Zoey was brave! LOL

  13. P.S. the original pictures were AWEsome too! I would frame those as well!

  14. I had to cut & paste my below reply with the one word “typo” corrected on this one.

You will get what I mean. ha! “ahhhh yes! you know what? I absolutly adore how you answered about the color and you are correct!! i like the black in whites with splashes of color for the world is indeed unique and wondrous to the eyes who truly “see” Rock on!!!!!!

  15. That is some cool work with photoshop. You should frame some of the flowers. Very unique. Take care, BAM

  16. All I can say is, brilliant. I love these!

  17. I tried to think what the original looked like before I scrolled to it, but didn’t come close. Tricky and very cool. Zoey is just so nonchalant and precious, any way you look at her.

  18. I am blown away by the flowers!! Simply stunning to me!

  19. These look fantastic!

  20. I love the effects on the flowers, but I think Zoey looks better in the original – that may be because I find cats difficult enough to understand as they really are!

  21. Ahw haha Zoey dripper :D I like the dripper pictures a lot! doesn’t take away from the fact that a flowers are long and elegant, cause it stays long, it just makes it odd and interesting.

  22. Those are all most interesting. I like the way Zoey’s cute little pink nose stood out in the dripper picture. Her ears in the rounder picture gave me a giggle. I think all the dripper pictures are really great and I like them best.

  23. I think they look cool.

  24. HAHAHA YAY! What a good sport Zoey is lol! She looks beautiful no matter what :D

  25. Works really well with echinacea but the poor cat looks creepy ;-)
