Comic Con International: Mardi Gras, Halloween & New Year’s rolled into one
Sadly, another Comic Con International came to an end yesterday.
Four days, 150,000 attendees (making it one of the top 2 conventions by attendance in the United States), and many millions of dollars generated for the local economy………
Lastly, as the convention was ending yesterday, R2D2 was making its way down the walkway in front of the Convention Center. All by itself. These units, of course, are remote controlled, but I followed him for a half mile and could not determine who was controlling it.

An additional photo of you would be the icing!
You’ll have to talk to Zoey the Cool Cat about that!
Great pictures! Should have booked my vacation over there…
Next year! Same bat time, same bat channel, same bat location (I only saw one Batman but two Catwomans; dozens of Spidermen).
I love Yoda and in his words, it looks like a great success, was it.;-)
WAY to much fun here! Yoda is my favorite, as well!
Sooo cool! I was playing Lego Star Wars on the Xbox, R2D2, sooo cool!
Pink.
Those costumes are incredible! Was that
Oh sorry! I hit the button too fast! I was going to ask was that Skeletor?
I think so, although I’m not completely up on all the various critters and such from the comics and movies.
Ah, clearly my inner geek is revealed
That’s okay. Geeks are welcome here, inner or outer.
Being a total movie geek I’m quite excited by the whole Comic-Con concept- we don’t have an equivalent in the UK. Thinking maybe I ought to start one up at my house- think Robert Downey Jr would come & talk about Ironman?????
I understand any of the movie stars will show up for the right amount of money……….
The reptile man takes the day; too bad Zoey wouldn’t let you out of the cat cage. Ya mighta won Russel.
Blessings – Maxi
I’m a people watcher. This would be a perfect event. How fun!
I had intended to take at least one day and just sit outside and watch 150,000 people come and go. Sadly, work got in the way of fun and I only got to spend about an hour people watching on the final day. I think the best day to people watch would be the first day since everyone wants to be seen that day. A lot of the costume novelty has worn off by the fourth day.
Russel, thank for yet another wonderful post! I was wondering about Comic Con (by this you can tell how out of the loop I am
. Just watched the movie – Paul – about a stranded alien and two British space geeks returning from Comic Con, who help him escape the US government clutches. Great movie, BTW.
Awesome pics! Really made the event come alive for me!
Now I am thinking about attending one of those in the future.
Cheers,
Your friend, Lada
P.S. I am going to tweet and post a link on FB for your post! In Tweeter lingo: GR8 job!
Thank U for UR kind words this morning.
somehow i feel like i have not lived – sigh – i’ve yet to attend ‘comic-con’ dang, need to increase that bucket list! nice shots, especially yoda!
Oh my gosh I want to go! Super awesome shots
Sent your link to my daughter. She loves San diego and Comic Con.
Oh my goodness! What a great event. My boys would have loved that! Thanks for sharing. The photos of the “characters” were great fun!
PS – thanks for stopping by my blog today! Always enjoy your visits and appreciate the “likes”!
One of these days I am going to get to one of those!!!
Great photos, Russel! I’d really like to get along to something like this one day as a photo event but even though we have our own Armageddon version down here the stars and dates never align – or haven’t so far…thanks for sharing these…
BTW…the young lady in white – do you know if that’s just a costume or if she was a Comic Con bride?
She was all by herself so I suspect it’s just a costume.
From Japan. Thank you for visiting and following my blog. Your blog is pleasant.
I’ll be back in a day or two to do some reading, liking, and commenting.
Thank you for replying.
Be prepared! I make a pretty big campfire for my hot dogs and s’mores, but since I live in a high fire hazard area and have lost two homes to wild fires, I’m a pretty conscientious camper…….lol
I can speak a little English. But I can’t understand the humor. I understand you are conscientious man.
I am sure I’ll enjoy perusing your blog.
Thank you.
All I can say is “WOW!” Fantastic photos and it looked like a lot of fun
Thanks for your visit to my blog recently. Good to hear from you again.
Gee some of this photos look an awful lot like what I see in the mirror first thing in the morning!
Great pics! All I can say is wow. Some people are truly committed. I can’t think of any comic/film/book/tv show that would inspire me to walk around like that all day! LOL. And thanks for visiting my blog again!
I could possibly go as something simple, like Mr. Spock from Star Trek. Put on some ears and a Star Trek suit, and there we go.
It takes me 14-15 days between campground visits, but as long as you continue to put up some new blog posts, I’ll continue to come by.
Hi,
I have just checked out your pictures. You do great work! Thanks for following my blog. I am following yours also.
Ciao,
Patricia
Thank you for passing by and the following
I’ll be back by in a couple of days to do some extended reading. I found your blog today via a blogging friend.
Thank you for visiting my blog today. I appreciate the “likes”!
What fun! I saw the event on news coverage, but I like your photos are better.
Luv ur photos–they’re awesome! ;D
Thanks!
I love comicon pics and you’ve got some doozies here! Now fess up…which one is you, Russel?
I would have gone as Mr. Spock. Been a Trekkie for 46 years now.
I will eagerly look forward to a shot titled, “Spock: Self Portrait” from next year’s show
I don’t think I’ll be able to make it next year. I see that the United Federation of Planets already has me scheduled to be in the Delta Quadrant that week…………….
