Meet Mr. L, Zoey the Cool Cat’s new little friend
I have a large window ledge outside my office window. I use it as one of my container gardening areas:
Zoey the Cool Cat likes to perch herself on the printer inside and stalk the birds at the bird feeder, which is just out of view at the center left of the picture above. The bigger the bird, the better — she loves dreaming about catching just one of the mourning doves.
Yesterday she sat on the window sill inside almost all day keeping an eye on her new little friend:
Would you look at the tail on Mr. L! He obviously has not had to regrow his tail after losing it in a fight with, say, a cat……….
Mr. L wasn’t too worried about being exposed — he apparently lives under some of my gardening containers — but he did scurry away when I touched him. I guess he likes all the bird food that the birds throw out of the feeder.

Happy 4th, RR!!
Thank you! And right back atcha!
Reptiles are not on my dance card but he is kinda cute. Reminds me of all the green chameleons running running around here with half tails. Word of caution: It will slip into the house if you are not careful!
He knows that if he comes inside, he’ll simply be sent back outside, providing that I get to him before Zoey the Cool Cat does!……….lol
The mourning dove is a beautiful little bird. Kind of slow, but nice. They make an awesome sound, too!
LOVE the birdie shot! On the precipice of excitement!
Pink.
Your ledge garden is very pretty. Great pictures. I love doves they are so pretty and fun to watch. sweet Zoey the Cool Cat you have some mighty fine critters to watch. Hugs and nose kisses
What a cool looking lizard and you are right – he’s had that tail for quite some time!
Aligator lizard?
Mr. L is a cutie? I was thinking along the same lines as Robin–Alligator Lizard or skink.
There wasn’t supposed to be a question mark after cutie!
Lovely pictures. Happy 4th Russel.
Great shots of the lizard.
Oooooh Mr. L must be fun to play with!
I thought it was a snake!!!
I love lizards. I used to pick them up and cart them all over the place when I was little. Hopefully Zoey doesn’t eat him.
I have had to rescue a couple of lizards that got into the house and were trying desperately to escape from the claws and teeth of Zoey the Cool Cat. Russel to the rescue…………. lol
That is so awesome! Don’t you just wish you could have video taped things like that? That reminds me of rescuing spiders from my dog. The things we do for our pets… or their intended victims.
I love Mr. L. What a tail. And what a great photo of him too.
I love lizards (but not when they pop up where I least expect them to be!) and Mr L is stunning.
