Mean, nasty people get summarily deleted. Bye bye!
I have spent most of my life helping people, usually through organizations such as Key Club at King High School, Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity at Texas A&M University, and, after college, Jaycees, Red Cross, Muscular Dystrophy, Special Olympics, SPCA….
I specifically put SPCA last because of three comments I recently received to my post Population down from 150 to 17 (and that’s good!).
I used to spend so much time volunteering to help others that sometimes I neglected my own job, the job that paid my bills, put food on the table…. little things like that.
Although I still try to help others when I can, I don’t go out of my way to do it. I realize that I can’t do as much as I would like to do.
One of the ways that I used to help people was by having a conversation with them, going over the good and the bad, seeking to change their minds when possible or necessary, etc. The three comments I received yesterday were espousing illegal actions, violence, and cruelty to animals, specifically cats. Cruelty to animals, of course, is illegal in every state, although I don’t know if the commenter is in the United States because he is not brave enough to have a public WordPress site to espouse his vile and putrid garbage.
I replied to his first comment, but when he left two more comments that were worse than the first, I summarily deleted his three comments, as well as my reply to his first comment. It was obvious that he was not interested in a conversation. He just wanted to be mean and nasty, and mess up other people’s blogs and days. Some people are like that……. so sad.
Three snippets; all capitalization, spelling, and grammar are his:
-
I managed to shoot and bury HUNDREDS of these invasive species cats to stop them from destroying all my native wildlife and spreading their deadly diseases even further. I, for one, know that NO invasive-species cat will EVER leave my land EVER again and become a problem for any living thing on earth — EVER AGAIN.
-
Where I live the cat-lovers quickly learned that, collar or not, their cats get shot on-sight no matter what.
-
The ONLY thing that works is destroying any of their cats found outdoors on your property. They either learn to stop getting more cats that die under the wheels of cars or from animal attacks, or they finally learn how to be a responsible pet owner, respectful neighbor, and learn to keep their invasive species animal under confined supervision, as it should be. Win win win all around. You can either destroy their cat for them humanely, or let their lack of concern for their cat cause it to die inhumanely. Your choice. By destroying their cat humanely you are showing them that you care more about their cat than even they do.
He did spout some facts, such as this one:
…cats continue to spread many deadly diseases that they carry today — FOR WHICH THERE ARE NO VACCINES AGAINST THEM. Many of which are even listed as bioterrorism agents. (Such as Tularemia and The Plague — Yes, people have already died from cat-transmitted plague in the USA. No fleas nor rats even required. The cats themselves carry and transmit the plague all on their own.)
I was not familiar with Tularemia, so I went to Google and Wikipedia:
Tularemia is also known as Rabbit Fever, Deer Fly Fever, and Ohara’s Fever. It is caused by a bacterium, Francisella tularensis. Although it is virulent in humans and domestic rabbits, it occurs mainly in beavers, muskrats, hares, and small rodents in northern Eurasia, where it is more virulent than in humans and rabbits. Primary vectors are ticks and deer flies, although it can be spread through other arthropods.
I could not find any source that said cats are responsible for Tularemia. Since that was the first “fact” that he cited, and it’s wrong, I didn’t bother researching any of his other “facts.” I suspect they are wrong, too. With that established, I deleted his three comments. I don’t like being a unwitting carrier of incorrect information, especially by mean, nasty people.
Mean, nasty people get summarily deleted. Bye bye!

Wow, that’s ugly indeed. I used to work with a local feral cat organization as well, and I can testify that the TNR approach (trap, neuter, and return) works extremely well in helping to control feral cat populations. Fortunately there are a lot of truly KIND people out there willing to do it, including yourself. Good for you.
Wow… Just, wow. So apparently in this (fill-in-the-blank) mind, there’s nothing between humanely rescuing, TNRing, and otherwise caring for these animals… and SHOOTING them? I work with TNR groups and individuals, and believe me — there IS a safe median. And for the “diseased” cats? I’ve had to humanely euthanize a few — just as I would one of my own, so they don’t suffer. There’s a lot of people in this world too — an overpopulation crisis, some might say. I wonder where his technique ends?
Sickening. Hopefully the little darling is all mouth and no trousers.
How horrible, horrible.
And why is the guy so angry? Kinda makes you wonder….
It does, and I don’t want to know.
He sounds like a total jerk.
I know about the habit of helping others, a lot of that changed for me when I heard these two phrases from Abraham “One cannot get sick enough to help a sick person get well” or “get poor enough to help a poor person get well”. I have learned to help where and when I can, much like the wonderful job you do in sharing the cool stuff on ways to do things that you do!
Kudos!

So sad……..glad I’m not walking around with all of that hate in me..
These hateful words just leave me heartsick and I don’t have enough words to express how disgusting and repulsive his remarks are. The contrast is overwhelming: You feeding, him killing. I am glad that you posted this! Most people will get the point.
Some people have too much time on their hands.
May he be saved by a cat so he can see the error of his ways.
Meh, a troll i think… as previous nice &good-willed comments say: too much time on their hands & MAY THEY BE SAVED BY A CAT so they can see the error of their ways.
Sickness reigns in the human mind, and this commenter is a perfect image of that sickness. It must be terrible to live a life so filled with hatred and anger and, I’m willing to bet, few friends.
as i say I don’t understand people that think like that..
I am grateful I don’t because i don’t want to ever be identified with that
kind of thinking …
how sad he dumped on you Russel..how wonderful you stopped the growing energy of his words….
Take Care…

Sorry to hear all this, that’s awful! I banned someone from my blog recently too because she was dissing on my late, beloved grandmother. It takes a real piece of dirt to pick on elderly and animals. I don’t get it.
Being that I have two felines his words are far from the truth. More like an irrational, emotional explosion. If one is trying to express opinion, it’s best to back up with facts, plus make it in a kind fashion, both of which were not done in this case.
Cats have their place in nature. Since I live in the country mine protect me from snakes, mice, and scare away possums. Plus, they are comic relief to sit and watch their daily adventures, even if some of them end up on my front porch!
In fact, I posted my most fleeting one on the Photo Challenge today for Fleeting Moments. She’s most worthy of this one.

Hear, hear, well done you! To be subjected to people’s verbal abuse and absolute garbage on your own comment page is totally unnecessary. Thankfully I have never come across anyone like that but it would appear that sadly they are out there.
I have never understood why anyone would have such hate for cats but there are people out there who do. Seems there are some that find sport and joy in shooting innocent cats. I am so thankful for all who work to help the feral cats. Deleting and saying goodbye is a great way to handle those who put such ugly comments and untruths on your blog. Hugs
So sad. On all levels.
It must be tough being that angry. Takes a lot of energy. Better spent on something worthwhile.
delete away…and thank you from this sane, humane and logical peep who also loves cats and appreciates life in all its various forms
Violence to animals is the first step to brutality to humans. These people are embarking on a blood-thirsty road.
I totally agree.
I’ll never understand why people think this way. As Snowbirdpress says…..violence to animals is the first step to brutality to humans. Animals have feelings too, as any of my blog followers will realise. In fact my observations of birds and animals since I’ve been photographing them, show many of them to be just as loving and caring as humans towards their partners and babies.
Senseless and unnecessary killing of a particular animal is just as bad as genocide (in my opinion).
I’m with you. It’s a good thing that this guy has his web site private because if I knew where he was, I’d inform the authorities so they could keep an eye on him. He’s probably our next serial killer.
Animal cruelty makes me want to vomit. It also makes me extremely angry. Thank you for unfriending him! It’s just disturbing to me how inhumane some people can be to animals; like they’re robots that don’t feel the torture you’re inflicting on them. That’s not right.
The mean, nasty guy left two comments that were summarily deleted without even reading them. Once I saw his name, poof! Bye Bye!
I had one such comment once. Actually a total of three. My human didn’t publish them because the guy was simply full of hatred against cats and my blog is my blog, don’t come mess with me on my blog.
My human googled the name he left and found out that he was posting the exact first same message on all sorts of cat sites. He pretended to be after feral cats but actually threatened me and my brothers.
Some people are just very sick.
I suspected that he simply goes around trying to cause trouble. Personally I hope he is eventually locked up since he obviously needs mental evaluation and help.
Same here.
Bravo to you for not taking his bait. I wonder what he would think of these comments admitting we feel pity and sadness for this pitiful character? Even more sad, I would wager a guess that he is not alone in his bizarre beliefs. I know I’ve met my of whack jobs, but so far, only in person.
They probably wouldn’t affect him at all. People of his ilk are usually beyond help until they do one too many criminal things and get thrown into the criminal mental health system.
Which would just mean he’d be living on our dollar!
I know, but I’d rather pay for him to get mental health than go around killing innocent pets.
Sad, but true.
I don’t know why people don’t just move on if they disagree about something. I guess it is safe to rant at someone who can’t hit him.
