Feed me! I’m your child!
With the San Diego Zoo now in its summer hours season, I went early yesterday evening to see how our animals were doing. Had lots of fun and got some great pictures of the big cats. Apparently, with dusk comes activity, hoping to catch some prey — one of the Amur Leopards was seriously eyeing a young child.
The first place I always stop is Flamingo Lagoon, right inside the front entrance, and what a joy it was yesterday.

I love to look at pretty flamingos, but I usually have to hold my nose. Their steady diet of uncooked shrimp cocktail does result in quite a stink doesn’t it?
We seem to always have a nice breeze here in San Diego, so the stink isn’t noticeable until you get down into some of the canyons which are protected from the breeze.
Thank you for sharing this! One of my favorite things whenever we would go to the Zoo , which was often, was to see the Flamingos as we entered! I miss San Diego so much! And definitely miss the zoo! Thank you for letting me go down memory lane for a few this morning! Have a good day!
I’ll be posting a lot more today as incentive for me to do some work tasks that I don’t like. I alternate: Blog, Work, Blog, Work, Blog, Work.
Animals really make people happy and i’ve always loved zoos. Thanks for the post and thanks for the follow.
Nice photos you have there.
I’ll be back to your campground in a day or two to do some camping.
Just beautiful !
So cute and fuzzy! How old are they when they start to turn pink, I wonder?
Depends on their food. Here in San Diego they can start turning pink as early as six months and should be fully pink by the age of about two.
Cute shots! Love looking at baby animals. I’ve never seen a baby flamingos. So adorable!
They are delightful! When you next camp out, look out for the public art!
You have public art in your campground now? How cool! I hope it’s not the controversial kind, though. lol
It was at the time! People were outraged by the fact that public money had been spent on ‘”that rubbish!” I think now, they are loved, certainly by my and mine!
Excellent stuff. I will be in the south of France next month. Just by where we are staying is a big sea water ‘Etang’ or salt lake, where flamingos reside. I will be trying to get a couple of shots…
Best,
Conor
