Ah to be young again….
When I was doing so much flying and traveling (1994 to 2001; I quit on 9/11/01 — another story), I discovered that the upscale hotels have a lot of interesting art. Here is one that I discovered recently right here in San Diego:
Funny thing is that I took the picture but have no idea where I was at the time, just the general location, which doesn’t really help me since the general location is about fifty square miles. Oh, well.

I love sculptures like this one – I have seen photos of several done by an artist whose name I do not recall, and I have always wished I could afford to have one in my yard.
I was at the San Diego Botanic Garden a couple of weeks ago and they are having their annual sculpture sale where artists donate sculptures. They ranged in price from a mere $1,500 to $16,650. Now I know why I don’t have any.
I love that piece of public art, joyful, lifelike and it makes me smile. I’m not sure if I’ve shown you the public art in our little town…. I will do soon as it delights me!
Look forward to it. Too much of our public art does not delight us. It is meant to cause consternation and distress. Gets great publicity that way.
That’s true. The latest Anish Kapoor in London, which I have yet to see, seems designed to do just that rather than to delight. But, I shall hold judgement until I have seen it in the flesh as it were!
