Unidentified bird pictures for my birding friends
These are the last of my “save but try to do something with in Photoshop” bird pictures from birding the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve on March 23, 2012.
I think Picture 1 might be a hawk and Picture 2 might be a kite, but that’s about as far as I can get with my identifications.
These pictures were taken at the 250mm end of a 55-250mm zoom lens. Serious cropping and adjustments were done in Photoshop CS6 to get something where I could at least make an attempt at identifying the birds.

The fifth one is what is known as a yellow bird.
I think you’re right! http://youtu.be/wfjIWa4i6hQ
Great photos of birds in flight and at perch! Just a guess, but– #5 a goldfinch? #6–a baby cardinal?
I love trying to identify the birds I see at my feeder, too.
#1- Red-shouldered Hawk #2 Osprey #3 Red-shouldered Hawk
#4 Black Phoebe # 5 Yellow Warbler #6 Cat Bird
Uh-oh. I don’t think I should have a Cat Bird in my post. lol
Thanks for identifying them!
Love the little yellow guy.
I came looking for tall ships and found great wildlife instead. I now see why you think birds are magical; I bet Zoey the Cool Cat likes them too.
Yeah, ZCC likes them. She’d like them better in her little claws and in her mouth! lol
Can we see more of the Tall Ships photos someday?
I just left you a message over on your blog. I’ll have tall ships tomorrow for you!
Thank you again and again for the exceptional Tall Ship post. And here you are giving out ideas, asking your birding friends for ID’s. Very clever.
I’ll have another Tall Ship post late tonight.
I was just now searching your site for whales. Any stories or pictures?
I see you already found my first whale-watching pictures.

great photos of birds…
Successful zoom, the backgorund give a sense “blur” I love it.
It darn hard to take pictures of birds in flight. Glad you captured them successfully and shared it.
Takes a little Photoshop work, though.
Pictures #1 and #4 are my favorites, though they all came out quite well. I’m a GIMP user, and I’ve never really tried Photoshop much but whatever you did it worked.
