It was bigger than a hummingbird!

PICTURE OF THE MOMENT

When I was but a juvenile delinquent child of 11, I was always tripping over my feet. They were (and still are) size 12. My wise old grandmother told me to look down to see where I was going and eventually my feet and mind would get coordinated. They did. But I still have this propensity to look down, especially when I’m in unknown territory.

A couple of days ago I was out birding at the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve when I looked down and saw this:

Big bug

It was a big bug scurrying merrily along on the path that we all were walking on. It was bigger than the hummingbird sitting on its nest that we saw.

I stopped to watch and take pictures (no one else did), half expecting the white-tailed kite nearby to swoop in and scoop him up for breakfast. I have no idea what kind of a bug it is; if you do, please let everyone know in a comment.

P.S. For those of you who were expecting something beautiful to start off the new week, just remember that Mother and Father Nature think all of their little ones are beautiful!

Happy Monday!

  1. Great shot.
I look down all the time too (due to some bad falls in the past), but I’ve only ever seen an enteresting beetle on the footpath once.
